Hearn to Sadam Ali: Kell Brook Coming for Your 154-Pound Title
It didn’t take long for potential opponents to start calling out Sadam Ali.
Eddie Hearn issued a challenge to the new WBO super welterweight champion Sunday in which the British promoter let Ali know Kell Brook wants to fight for his 154-pound championship. Hearn’s company promotes England’s Brook, who is expected to return to the ring sometime early in March against a soon-to-be-named opponent.
Hearn indicated that Brook will face a lesser opponent than Ali in his first fight as a full-fledged 154-pounder before trying to secure a shot at Ali’s title. Brook hasn’t fought since suffering another fractured orbital bone during his 11th-round knockout loss to undefeated Errol Spence Jr. on May 27 in Sheffield, England, Brook’s hometown.
Hearn Tweeted: Congrats on a great win @realworldkidali - @SpecialKBrook back early March then he is coming for the 154 [inserted emoji for crown]. Hearn tagged @GoldenBoyBoxing and @HBOboxing in the Tweet.

I heard Brook was fighting Cedric Vitu but now is maybe Hogan (Aussie) or Vera (undefeated US fighter)
I'm not interested in any of them. In actual fact I wish Brook would retire

I was/am a fan of Kell but maybe you're right and he should pack it in. If the Khan fight is a goer in the near future then yeah have a warm up and go for that as its a good earner, but we don't know if his eyes are even gonna hold out in another battle. I can't see him making any waves at 154. Strong division. He'd maybe beat Ali but the rest of the belt holders would probably be too much for him.horndawg80 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2017, 11:55 I heard Brook was fighting Cedric Vitu but now is maybe Hogan (Aussie) or Vera (undefeated US fighter)

Perhaps winning Ali's WBO strap will make the Khan fight more likely....Stuarty30 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2017, 11:59I was/am a fan of Kell but maybe you're right and he should pack it in. I knew guys would be lining up to fight Ali, looks like Kell Brook is first in line.
It'd be a solid contest.

154 is a pretty weak division I'd say. He's actually better off there than he would be at 147.Stuarty30 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2017, 11:59I was/am a fan of Kell but maybe you're right and he should pack it in. No he isn't.
Liam Smith is mandatory that's next.

Vitu is mandatory for Hurd and likely his next fight so it won't be him.horndawg80 wrote: ↑04 Dec 2017, 11:55 I heard Brook was fighting Cedric Vitu but now is maybe Hogan (Aussie) or Vera (undefeated US fighter)

I would also rather Kell Brook retire. Without doubt the most frustrating career since I've been a fan of this sport.
Re: Hearn to Sadam Ali: Kell Brook Coming for Your 154-Pound Title
And I think that's a very competitive matchup.
I'd favor Ali slightly in that actually, but it's basically a toss up. Especially since it'd likely be taking place in England as I'd assume Liam is the bigger draw of the two.
Re: Hearn to Sadam Ali: Kell Brook Coming for Your 154-Pound Title
I highly doubt that takes place here. Smith doesn't draw at all and at least Sadam has HBO exposure.
Think I put it on another thread. I think that's a solid addition to the GGG v Canelo rematch card if it happens May 5th.
Re: Hearn to Sadam Ali: Kell Brook Coming for Your 154-Pound Title
Or anybody Canelo fights in May for that matter. You know he's fighting somebody in May...might not be GGG though
Re: Hearn to Sadam Ali: Kell Brook Coming for Your 154-Pound Title
Ali v Brook works for me.
Re: Hearn to Sadam Ali: Kell Brook Coming for Your 154-Pound Title
Brook is coming off 2 losses so should have to prove himself at 154 before he gets a shot. Whether you like Liam Smith or not, fact of the matter is he's the mandatory and shouldn't be getting looked over for Kell Brook. No surprise to see Hearn calling out Ali straight away though, who is on paper the weakest champion at the weight. I don't recall him sending similar tweets when Hurd broke Trout down or when Charlo iced Lubin in a round.
If he'd have moved up before the Golovkin fight I'd have given him a very good chance of beating the champions. Right now though, I think someone with Hurd's ridiculous size and relentless aggression is the last thing he needs.
With Lara the chances are you won't outbox him, your best bet is to take it to him and outwork him which isn't really Kell's style.
Jermell is one I'm still trying to figure out, was never really big on him but he's stepped up in the last few fights and has delivered a couple of scary KO's.
Ali is very beatable, he's solid enough, decent speed/movement etc but isn't anything special. He had a pretty faded Cotto in front of him for about 5 rounds at the weekend and still allowed the fight to be close IMO. A truly top fighter would have sensed that weakness, stepped on the gas and removed any doubt in that situation. Brook can beat him, so can Smith for that matter, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised to either fight go the other way.

Good fight, i'd certainly watch. I think Brook probably wins, but Ali is an exciting fighter.
Re: Hearn to Sadam Ali: Kell Brook Coming for Your 154-Pound Title
We should just see how Ali deals with Liam smith first. That's going to be his next fight.
Then talk about this.
If Ali is champion in the latter part of 2018 Hearn will be doing everything to get this made

Ali's trainer said he's not sure if he'll stay at 154,
Cuz he'a natural 147

He'll keep the belt especially with Liam Smith as a mandatory. They should see that as an easy fight.

He can't go straight after Sadam. He needs to have a tester first. Should get WBO to santion for a regional belt. Jump straight into the rankings at #3..horndawg80 wrote: ↑12 Dec 2017, 05:44 Instead you serve up Rabchenky who got knocked out by Tony Harrison!!

The Senchenko fight will be for WBO Intercontinental or International I imagine, although they would have to ask Kelly to vacateRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑12 Dec 2017, 07:58He can't go straight after Sadam.
