Tevin Farmer vs Kenichi Ogawa
For the vacant IBF Super Featherweight title on the Salido/Roman undercard on Sky this Saturday, never heard of Ogawa but look like he carries power at least, no notable names on his record though
Whats people's take on Farmer? His career was going nowhere, getting KO'd a few times early in his career then since getting knocked out from Pedraza 5 years ago he's went on a great run and making a lot of fans including myself, he's looks seriously skilled, him and Davis have been arguing on twitter so hopefully that's a fight that can be made if Tank can ever make 130 again

Re: Tevin Farmer vs Kenichi Ogawa
Some footage of Ogawa-
http://www.asianboxing.info/videos/cate ... ichi-ogawa
For my take he's probanly the second (or third) best Super Featherweight in Japan following the retirements of the two Takashi's (Ito would be my clear #1, Abe runs Ogawa close). His only loss came courtesy of a broken jaw, he's heavy handed but pretty basic, Sugita showed how to beat him, especially in fight #1.
Farmer SHOULD be far too smart, but will need to avoid being caught.

Ogawa 11/1 to win this. I’ve had a nibble.
Re: Tevin Farmer vs Kenichi Ogawa
What is he like? Looks like he can dig on paper anyway? I've only seen Farmer a handful of times. Very good boxer but again, going by his record, he can't dig! If it turns in to a brawl you'd have to side with the Jap surely

Quite basic. I expect Farmer to outbox him.
But he can dig and 11/1 is worth a punt.

11/1 is worth a nibble, if there's stoppage odds they will be worth a nibble, he won't be out boxing farmer, but could tag him or wear him out with physical stuff

What's his work rate like mate?Boxing Prospect wrote: ↑08 Dec 2017, 23:48 11/1 is worth a nibble, if there's stoppage odds they will be worth a nibble, he won't be out boxing farmer, but could tag him or wear him out with physical stuff

He's a solid guy but nothing exceptional in terms of work rate, guys that move confuse the fornicate out of him

Sky painted a picture of a 1 sided bout. Farmer looked class but tried to win it without doing much. Ogawa struggled to land with consistency but landed the heavier blows. Close fight either way, surprised Ogawa got it
Re: Tevin Farmer vs Kenichi Ogawa
You're true regarding the commentary I had to turn it down. No way was it a masterclass like they declared.. Farmer did take his foot off the gas I the mid rounds and got a bollocking from his trainer for it,Boxing Prospect wrote: ↑10 Dec 2017, 05:11 Sky painted a picture of a 1 sided bout. However I still thought Farmer definitely won the fight. I had him winning 116-112. You could tell in Ogawas body language at the end he lost. Even throuhout he fight he had the look of a desperate fighter trying to get back in the fight.

Re: Tevin Farmer vs Kenichi Ogawa
That was incredible, one of the worst robberies ever, I had Farmer winning 119-110, wasn't even close, if anyone was gonna get robbed you'd have thought it would've ben Ogawa, he couldn't believe his luck, incredible scenes
Wasn't a great fight by any stretch and neither guy's offense was brilliant but Farmer was by far the guy in control, his defence is excellent and he looks sharp when he lets his hands go and not pot shotting, he wasn't flawless himself but Ogawa never offered much apart from walking forward and missing
Atrocious scoring all round, gutted for Farmer he should be a world champ today

Re: Tevin Farmer vs Kenichi Ogawa
just watched 11 rounds. footage from someone in the crowds zoomed in. no commentary. thought at least. 6 couldve gone to ogawa.ppl who think farmer was robbed prob thought hughie did a masterclass vs parker.im sick of ppl fawning over style.
the idea that farmer clearly won 8-10 rounds is truly lauaghable. so many rounds he was just doing totally superficial boxing where he postured, feinted a lot, looked cute, etc, but really did nothing of substance offensively.so many punches he threw were just taps from too far out to land. loads of rounds were really not much to split them.
farmer did have the best rounds of either, when he actually dug in, but so often it looked like he was just trying to show off and look as flashy as his skirt shorts. ogawa missed a lot but he was landing enough scrappy stuff to have an argument in numerous rounds.
eff the terrible decision crap. btw farmer has an awful style to watch. doesnt care about doing more than the minimum.

I was gutted, I was watching it intermittently between falling asleep.
I had £25 to nick £12.50 on Loma points. Two minutes later Rigo pulls out! Just my luck

Re: Tevin Farmer vs Kenichi Ogawa
I Had money on Ogawa at 11/1.
I thought Farmer won. He was the only one landing clean punches.
Ogawa Just kept throwing single right hands into Farmers gloves, then Farmer was catching him with wide lefts upstairs and down.
118-110 Farmer on my card.

Re: Tevin Farmer vs Kenichi Ogawa
honestly after watchcing the footage i posted i cant buy at all that it was a bad robbery. so many rounds farmer was doing no more than ogawa, even if he superficially looked flashy. id laugh at anyone whod be sitting next to me telling me farmer was outclassing him. i think over half the rounds you could go either way. farmer deffo won the biggest rounds of the fight but there was only like 3 where he really looked a level above. maybe its easier to remember these rounds and think they represented the fight when they didndt. not at all surprised at the lack of boos from the crowd or spanish commentary having ogawa ahead.
imo i think some ppl scored too heavily for flashyness but it doesnt really factor for me. ogawa not as 'cute' but lots of rounds he landed enough to have a case when farmer was more concerned with how cool he looked posturing and stuff.
but dont get me wrong i thought farmer probably edged it, just dont buy this 10-2 robbery stuff.

Re: Tevin Farmer vs Kenichi Ogawa
I thought Farmer won clearly without looking great offensively himself, my card was wide but he was edging pretty much every round, Farmer was at least landing, I admire Ogawa for trying to make a fight of it but he wasn't landing, if a boxer can win 1 round on the backfoot then he can win 12, some people get frustrated with a fighter being negative nicking rounds that after a few rounds they decide to start giving rounds to the other guy who's pressing even though every round is near identical to the ones they were giving to the defensive guy a few rounds previous
Farmer's definitely going to have to sort his offence out though, when he faces someone whos not as crude as Ogawa he's gonna need a few other tricks, Farmer makes Lara seem like prime Tyson
