Heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin
Came across this guy on bexrec not long ago. He was a golden gloves champion in the amateurs. Lives and fights out of Michigan. He's 24 years old and doesn't turn 25 until next October. His current record is 14-0-0-11, and most of his opponents had winning records. He's averaging about five fights per year. Saw a few brief clips of him and he doesn't look bad. At 6'2", 230 lbs, he's about the same size as Povetkin. Anyone have anything to add on Jermaine Franklin? What do you think of him?
Re: Heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin
He's one of two Michegan Heavies I've had half an eye on, the other being Craig Lewis, another decent former amateur. Only he's 33 now whereas Franklin has youth on his side. I've watched him (JF) a few times on you-tube mostly amateur fights and it's clear he has some talent. Whether he is good enough to compensate for his comparative lack of stature remains to be seen, but he is a useful addition to the division and could be in some entertaining fights.

Re: Heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin
he's worth keeping an eye out for , as well as a few others like Darmani Rock.
Franklin looks to have heavy hands but he needs to step up the level of opponent now.
Laron Mitchel seems to have stalled and isn't getting any younger....or faster

Yes indeed Mr Rock certainly bears watching. LaRon is a real disappointment. He might have cracked the top twenty had he shown any ambition but it seeems to me he's content knocking out the occasional stiff in order to augment his teacher salary.
Trevor Bryan is another. Seems like only yesterday he and Jarrell Miller were neck and neck in terms of development, potential, and world ranking, but now they are going in opposite directions.

So many American heavyweight prospects that don't seem to have any backers. They're being managed poorly considering the history of AMErican heavies...If Darmani Rock was British he'd be known by some of the mainstream media over here, operating a young age. So many of them ain't doing sh!t too as previously stated, Miller has only finally took off.

American heavyweights are terrible. Theres loads of them but its all quantity and no quality. Eastern Euope and the UK are producing the best heavyweights.

Wilder and Parker get high props. Everyone else is far far behind.

All the best prospects are either Eastern European or from the UK. They are the two biggest forces in boxing.

Joshua is the best and the true champion. I think Baby Miller is also a good prospect.

Your opinion. I have povetkin and Aj neck and neck. Povetkin has the much better resume.Tony1244 wrote: ↑18 Dec 2017, 14:26Joshua is the best and the true champion. Povetkin had a lost of problems with cruiserweight Huck. I thought Huck won that fight. Joshua would flatten Huck. Povetkin has gone the distance with fighters Joshua would KO easily.
Joshua would beat Povetkin very easily I believe. Now Povetkin vs Wilder? That I don't know.

It was 7 years ago and Huck was in his prime.. the longest reigning cruiser champ ever. Povetkin won fair and square . Every fighter has tough fightsTony1244 wrote: ↑18 Dec 2017, 14:37Vit and Foreman weren't very fast and it worked for them.Dwayne Rudenkoslav wrote: ↑18 Dec 2017, 14:33Your opinion. If you wanna talk like that. Povetkin would have never struggled with fornicating Dillian Whyte! Povetkin knocked Takam clean out - KO. Joshua could barely hurt Takam and got a corrupt stoppage. Povetkin would have never have lost to Nistor. Povetkin would have never been dropped in sparring by David Price. Povetkin has a much better chin than Joshua. Povetkin was a better amateur than Joshua. Povetkin is tougher than Joshua. Povetkin has better skills than Joshua.
Joshua diesn't have a chin like Rudenko and Ustino.. I reckon Povetkin Kos Joshua.
Anyone can do that shit.
Wilder got lucky he avoided Povetkin. Povetkin would destroy that great black hope american bum easily.
Re: Heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin
Pulev is better than Parker.

Ped vickien is an aging drugged-out HW. Saying he is better than Joshua is
Re: Heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin
He's not one of my top picks, but like... he's more of a prospect than some of the ridiculous names people throw around. It's pretty weird when people are calling 36-year-olds "prospects" way too often, and it's like "Finally, someone's at least calling a 24-year-old a prospect." I mean, there's 3 younger heavyweights with higher ratings, plus a few others who might be more promising (older, but ranked way higher; or lower-ranked but way younger). But he is a valid prospect.

I bet you were celebreting having a party that he looked like he may have finally aged a few days ago
thats what youve all been waiting for haha. He still has enough left to destroy robot Joshuas glassy chin
Re: Heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin
i agree. parker looked embarrassingly inept many times vs ruiz and hughie. both as an agressor vs s boxer mover and on the backfoot vs stalking pponent. couldve easily lost both. and i thoought it was a clear l vs andy. hes really no better than breazele,, whyte, duhsupas, etc, but since he gas a belt he gets lots more attention
call me crazy but bellew has a good chance of beating parker
Re: Heavyweight prospect Jermaine Franklin
I think Parker outworks Pulev but it's an interesting match-up between two fighters of similar ability (not similar styles)
I wouldn't call you crazy jamamb but I can't see Bellew beating the naturally bigger Parker. He might very well take him the full distance though.

Franklin is 6'2 and was well bulked at 240.
Decent technician.

So Franklin is the great black hope of the HW prospects?
