Andre Ward Leaves The Door Open - "I Do Miss Fighting"

ward wouldve humilated beterbiev. maybe bellew couldve posed some issues with his size.

Loma's win was controversy free. He didn't win on a foul.SmoothStyle1 wrote: ↑15 Dec 2017, 16:01Debatable. I think Ward would still be #1. He turns 34 in a couple of months; boxing is a young-man's sport. I hope he does not return.

Well he's powerful enough to double a man over with an uppercut combo to the testicles i guess.
Re: Andre Ward Leaves The Door Open - "I Do Miss Fighting"
he wobbled him before that with a headshot
Re: Andre Ward Leaves The Door Open - "I Do Miss Fighting"
Of course "the door is open".
If an unexpected huge payday presents itself he will be back just like almost every other boxer in history.
Look around the near weight divisions.
In the next 12 months or so does a big money fight for Ward seem realistic?
If so please name that opponent.
If said payday doesn't present itself before calendar year 2019 we will never see Ward in the ring again.

A few inc. Bivol called him out. But legitimately there is no huge payday for Ward at the moment.Perseus wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 10:24 Of course "the door is open".

That’s the punch you saw.Ricky_ wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 03:28Well he's powerful enough to double a man over with an uppercut combo to the testicles i guess.
You don’t mention the legal body shot before the legal head shot
from ANDRE WARD that rocked the monster Kovalev.
Re: Andre Ward Leaves The Door Open - "I Do Miss Fighting"
Ward did rock Kovalev with a head shot. That's definitely true.
Doesn't change the fact that Ward won his fight with Kovalev on 3 low blows.
The record will always say Andre Ward TKO 8 Sergey Kovalev, and the people that saw it will always know it was a questionable KO.
It's a disservice to Ward that Tony Weeks botched the ending like that because he was going to beat Kovalev controversy free that night if not for that.
As it is though, the controversy will always be, and 2 of the biggest wins of Ward's career will always have an asterix next to them.

Those two wins don't have asterix now, never did and never will.
No matter how much the Ward haters whine it will never change the fact that Ward proved himself clear superior to Kovalev and exposed him as a quitter in the process.
Re: Andre Ward Leaves The Door Open - "I Do Miss Fighting"
That's just a straight up lie. Why even say it? Does nothing but show delusion or agenda.
Re: Andre Ward Leaves The Door Open - "I Do Miss Fighting"
well technically there is no asterisk on the record. if u mean ppl can legitimately question aspects of the wins, sure, like many wins of various boxers, but history will show that ward edged out kov in their series. also kov was hurt to the head and totally wilting before those closing low blows. he was already cooked.ward really did some damage after a first fight that was tough to split them.he figured kov out, even though it was tough.
Re: Andre Ward Leaves The Door Open - "I Do Miss Fighting"
When the subject is Ward YOU have always had a hatred of Ward.
Back in the super six days your rants on Ward led me to believe you hated American boxers in general but your posts in the years since tell me that I was wrong, you just hate Ward for some reason.
I'm sure I don't see all of your posts but the ones I do see are always reasonable and objective.......................................................................... until the subject is Andre Ward.
You have an anti-Ward agenda.
I didn't say the Ward victories were easy I said he proved himself clear superior, there is a difference.
Like it or not that's what happened.
Re: Andre Ward Leaves The Door Open - "I Do Miss Fighting"
Damn, must've been some epic rants if they left an impression. I've never liked Ward but it makes no point to outright lie about things. Both fights had controversy. The rematch only showed the one thing I like about Ward, his will to win.Perseus wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 22:04 When the subject is Ward YOU have always had a hatred of Ward.

You caught me trolling a little bit...........................the fights did indeed have controversy but there are no asterix the wins were legit victories. Sure the decision in the first fight was very close and the decision could have went to Kovalev but it didn't. Close often equals controversy and if we're lucky we get to see a rematch.
Re: Andre Ward Leaves The Door Open - "I Do Miss Fighting"
If I live to 100 years old (highly unlikely) and then die and go to hell and then be forced to watch Ward boxing it will still be way too soon.
Now if he comes back to fight from that "retirement" I will watch it. I know it is stupid but I just can't help my self. I will watch it and I will hate it
The reason I don't like Ward is this...
In boxing I like the action and I like the display of skills. I also like the hard hitting fighters. I was rooting for Lemieux this weekend. Saunders put up a real show. He proved that he is the far superior boxer. I respect that. That's what boxing is all about. Who is the better boxer. That's what I wan't to see.
Kovalev showed in the first Ward fight that he is the superior boxer. He was out boxing Ward. Ward could only wrestle, play dirty and try to avoid boxing at all costs. Kovalev won that fight easily. Ward did no damage in that fight. He didn't display any great boxing skills either. Too bad this "sport" is corrupted as fornicate.
Then came the rematch. Ward was fighting dirty as hell. He was beating the better boxer with tactics that should not even be allowed in boxing match. I am not interested to see a competition of who can fight the most dirty or bend the rules most and get away with it. I want to see boxing and not someone who is doing hes hardest to avoid a fair boxing match.![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

Re: Andre Ward Leaves The Door Open - "I Do Miss Fighting"
Tonight on HBO exclusive we will find out "who is the dirtiest fighter in boxing?"!
Fighting out of the red corner we have the great, the undefeated fouler Andre "the nutcracka" Ward. He has 32 victories with 1 of them coming by the way of nut punch. Officially no losses...
The fighter in blue corner the undefeated hugging champion of the world... Mairis "the octopus" Briedis. He is undefeated with 23 victories with one of the knockouts coming by the way of strangulation.
Please remember that filming this event and selling it as a gay porn is strictly forbidden!
Surely a PPV event right there... Any takers?

Good post. Ward doesn't have power and proper punch technique, can't move like Lara, Saunders, Craword or even Dirrell., so he relies on dirty tactics.Heretic wrote: ↑18 Dec 2017, 09:40 If I live to 100 years old (highly unlikely) and then die and go to hell and then be forced to watch Ward boxing it will still be way too soon.

People have eyes. No matter how much you wish Andre Ward won those 2 fights without controversial scoring (1st fight) and low blows (2nd fight) that's always gonna be what happened, and it's always gonna be there to see.Perseus wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 21:04No they won't.gilgamesh wrote: ↑17 Dec 2017, 16:36 Ward did rock Kovalev with a head shot. He is certainly young enough to come back, his style isn't one that would diminish with age.
But he would need a challenge to force him out of his slippers and at the moment there isn't any out there.
Maybe if one of the younger generation beat Kovalev that might be enough to temp him.
