Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
He could not KO glass jawed Hammer. This is what happens when you are not "Pedvetkin" anymore.
Same happened to Erkan Teper.
Pre-Klitschko Povetkin is back ladies and gentlemen.

Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
He just wins all rounds, I don't see any other boxer out there who's better, Tyson Fury mught become it again, but not any time soon.
Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
Hahahaha. That was a good one. Tyson Fury who has no power actualy knocked Hammer down.
Povetkin is no beast anymore without his doping. Parker beats him too lmao,
Wilder and Joshua would knock him into mars
Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
Povetkin is officially the WBA mandatory for Joshua now. They have yet another reason to put the Wilder fight off.

Wilder and Joshua would easily beat Hammer by early KO.

What is it about Povetkin that intrigues people so much?
I don't think he's that good.

Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
he really doesnt get much talk these days. leading up to this fight there were like 2 threads about him out of the last 10 pages (so hundreds of threads) the op posts anti pedvetkin threads just as much as anyone hypes him up anymore. he does have one of the best records of active hw but would be splattered by joxh and wilder. i think hed beat parker
and funny how his brutal ko streak has suddenly stopped, even as the opponents got worse. i wonder why

Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
..nothing spectacular but still decent performance from a 38-year old veteran, he won convincingly (almost) every round..incidentally, he was 22 pounds lighter and 8 years older..must be important to those boxing fans who pay meticulous attention to every detail..regarding the venue: correct me if I'm wrong but NONE of the referees/judges was a Russian which is a huge contrast considering Nevada and Co. appoint up to 4 LOCAL officials to support their boxers which obviously works..

Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
Why in the world would Povetkin avoid Joshua?
What do you think he's in the fight business for? Just to wear pretty trunks?
If Povetkin gets the opportunity (and he should as the top contender) he jumps at the chance.
He can win a version of the heavyweight crown and earns one of the biggest paydays of his career..
It's absurd to believe Povetkin should turn it down. Do you think he's frightened of Joshua?
He would truly believe he would win a bout with Joshua. And his chances are pretty decent
Don't get so hung up on KOs. The better fighter isn't necessarily the bigger puncher.
A talented boxer will usually upend a puncher.
I see Povetkin/Joshua as 50/50.

Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
He keeps beating really good opponents unlike most others who fight much lower ranked fighters that's why he is the number 2. Povetkin will get beaten by Joshua, The Wilder fight is a pick-um. Every one else currently active he beats IMO.BAD INTENTIONS wrote: ↑16 Dec 2017, 01:52 What is it about Povetkin that intrigues people so much?

since 2014
takam
perez
duhaupas
charr
hammer
wach
rudenko
i can respect that this is among the best hw resumes of the last 3 years, though i think aj and wilder both splat him. without that ped power hes merely good, maybe a bit better than pulev and parker.

Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
parker doesnt beat him. parker not only has never had power at top level but hes very sloppy too and doesnt have povetkins schooling. he couldve easily lost the decisions to fatboy ruiz and hughie and really looked clueless at times.
agree on josh and wilder koing him though.hed be kept at outside then smashed with the long right cross.

Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
Well, the Wilder fight would have never been that interesting in the first place. If Briggs asks Wilder for a fight Wilder runs away scared and when Wilder does something similar like Briggs did to AJ then all of a sudden AJ is suppost to fight him?
At least fight someone decent first, or at least have a history that proves Wilder would do the same. In reality Wilder simply got double standards.

Briggs was never ranked in the top 15 of the WBC and never eligible to fight for Wilders belt.

Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
Briggs didn't even ask for the belt did he? He just wanted to fight Wilder and even offered him more money as Wilder made with any fight in his entire carreer, even back than!marvelous marv wrote: ↑16 Dec 2017, 08:11 Briggs was never ranked in the top 15 of the WBC and never eligible to fight for Wilders belt.
Wilder just offered that as an excuse to avoid Briggs and then all of a sudden Wilder himself proved that to be no problem, when he wanted to make a showfight with his friend, that junk, that drugs using fat guy, forgot his name. That guy wasn't ranked in the top 15 either and all of a sudden was when Wilder wanted him to be.
Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
Go study more, you know nothing what you're saying, it's a waste of time ppl discussing this with you kid.
Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
HOW DID I KNOW THE POVETKIN'ITES WOULD BE BACK IN THIER SEWING CIRCLE TODAY TAKING TURNS JACKING HIM? IDIOTS.
Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
He's also old as dirt, fails drug tests, and was hopeless against WladLennox wrote: ↑16 Dec 2017, 07:33He keeps beating really good opponents unlike most others who fight much lower ranked fighters that's why he is the number 2. Whoa there Senor. 50/50? Maybe you should re-watch him vs Wlad. Povetkin does the same thing, over and over. jab, duck, dive in, hook or over-hand right. He got lucky with Perez ducking under him and catching him while he was turned sideways.SenorPipino wrote: ↑16 Dec 2017, 07:20 Why in the world would Povetkin avoid Joshua?

Povetkin is a top ten guy I would say, but truth be told there is no heavyweight right now that is 50-50 with Joshua. Wilder is the closest imo because of his awkwardness, athleticism, and Power. If Ortiz beats Wilder he will be close. If Fury gets there he will be KO'd.
Joshua is the king right now, until someone beats him.
If you re-watch Povetkin vs Wlad, note that the majority of the tie-ups were initiated by Povetkin diving in, not by Wlad. Wlad fought smart.
Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
I don't think it's a question of Povetkin staying away from them. I don't think anybody is ever gonna bother to give him a shot again since he can't be counted on to actually show up at the fight without failing a drug test.
Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
After the Klitschko fight, Povetkin had a great resume before being caught dirty for the Wilder fight.
He probably has the best resume of the active top heavyweights. (debatable)
Though I don't think he would be able to take down Joshua or Wilder, his best chance would be Parker.
Though, his stock has dropped even more since getting busted again before the Stevierne fight. So I could see why they wouldn't want to waste their time giving him a big fight again.

He actually turned out to be innocent against Wilder, it was just the excuse Wilder abused to duck him.bmilligan wrote: ↑16 Dec 2017, 10:18 After the Klitschko fight, Povetkin had a great resume before being caught dirty for the Wilder fight.

Povetkin is the highest average boxrec rank of all active heavyweights in this century.

Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
Povetkin needs a new PED man.
Re: Povetkin should stay away from Joshua
I have to admit that the Povetkin who destroyed the normally extremely tough and durable Duhaupas (albeit a very short notice replacement) bears little resemblance to the Povetkin who laboured to a points decision over Rudenko and Hammer. The guy is 38 now but his skills don't seem to have suffered like his power, and I'm not going to rule out coming off PEDs as a possible explanation.
The Russians are known for promoting the use of PEDs among their athletes, I guess a Russian boxer might have a rather more relaxed attitude to using drugs to get ahead than his counterpart in the west (not that they are all squeaky clean in the west of course) That doesn't excuse cheating but it makes it a little easier to understand that it is probably tempting not to kick against the system but to go with the flow..
I do like Povetkin though. He has good defense while going forward, cuts the ring off well, and throws excellent hooks and uppercuts, mixing them up very effectively. I find him very good to watch and I admire his willingness to take on quality opposition ... and Hammer
I do agree though that Joshua is too big and too good, and Povetkin would most likely get a good payday and a good hiding. I've an idea Eddie would be quite keen on a Joshua v Povetkin fight. I'd give him a good chance against Wilder even now though. An even better chance if he can stop off at the Chemist (drugstore) enroute.![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
