Saunders vs. Lemieux: Who's watching?

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

UK fight fans. I believe it's the final time this year we're staying up for a fight? Should be a good close to a good year.

I've never had to stay up late for a BJS fight before and I probably wouldn't depending on his opponent. I like Lemieux's style. Should be an interesting one. Plus I have no work tomorrow.

The clash will be shown on BT Sport 2 and allegedly.

Live coverage will start 2am GMT.

I rekon Box-Nation/BT will show 3 fights at least..

I think we're all watching this one.?

Don’t worry, I always watch first thing in the morning before looking at the internet. I even put my phone on airplane mode overnight so a mate can’t text me the result and spoil it accidentally

I can't remember a Lemieux fight that wasn't exciting.
I also find myself enjoying the Hebrew Hammer in the 3 fights of his I have seen. While I find his boxing fairly basic, it's sure exciting.

It's different for me, this fight is live at 2pm on a Sunday afternoon. Ive got some cold ones in the fridge and a big bag of corn chips and salsa. And by 2pm it will be nice to get out of the heat.
Got some chores to do this morning, quick blast on the motorcycle after lunch, then a cracking fight after that.

Not the best fight. But by far BJS's best fight and win.

I stopped watching after the 6th. Lemieuxs problem - he needs his feet to be set to throw his shots.

I watched Eubank Saunders recently and that was the adjustment Eubank made. He was throwing punches and moving at the same time rather than trying to set his feet before throwing. Lemieux wasn't able to do that. He missed badly every time he threw punches because setting his feet takes too long against someone like Saunders and when he tried to throw as he was moving he just didn't have the coordination or balance and looked foolish.

He clowned the sh*t out of Lemieux. Complete shutout. Seemed fairly obvious early on that Lemieux was outclassed.

Southpaw traveller Billy Joe Saunders scored an easy unanimous decision against challenger David Lemieux in Quebec.

Saunders won every round of the fight on most cards. One judge had it 120-108 while the other two managed to show some sympathy for Lemieux and give him a couple of rounds. HBO scorer Harold Lederman showed a 120-108 scorecard in favour of Saunders.

From the opening bell Lemieux was made to look like he had just come in off the street and put on a pair of gloves. Saunders masterfully boxed circles around him, winning the rounds clearly. An Ali Shuffle was performed by Saunders early in the second round which added further embarrassment to Lemieux, who could only look on in frustration.

The crowd booed Saunders as he did everything he could to stink the joint out and win the rounds but Saunders didn't have a care in the world as he was winning the rounds easily and avoiding any punches that Lemieux threw in his direction.

In a fight that will never be rewatched by fans, Lemieux was completely outclassed. In the post fight interviews, Lemieux claimed he injured his hand and criticized Saunders for "running" while Saunders challenged Golovkin to a fight. HBO analyst Max Kellerman said he didn't know who would win that fight. Saunders has shown he is capable of doing a 10k run in the ring on fightnight and we would imagine that he would up that to a 15k run vs Golovkin.

Saunders seems to be over the moon in the Ingle gym and master tactician Dom Ingle will now look to craft a plan of action for a fight with Golovkin next year.

I enjoyed the first 7 rounds after that I just wanted Saunders to do a bit more. He could have easily an could have maybe stopped him but I suppose why take the risk

Well that was an absolute masterclass from Saunders from the 1st bell to the last, I did give Lemieux a share of the 12th but that was it, he was punching fresh air all night and Saunders put in the performance of his life, his jab was excellent, his footwork was incredible and his shot selection was on point, Lemieux never got a sniff all night and was made to look like a club fighter

Nothing wrong with Saunders engine either, he fought a very clever fight and picked Lemieux off at will, he did hurt Lemieux as well and I would've liked to have seen Saunders maybe turn it up a notch to try and get Lemieux out of there but I'm nitpicking, excellent showing from BJS and one of the best performances away from home from a British fighter, surely even the Americans will be impressed
