With respect fella I'm pretty sure I've seen someone assure me he was on weight before, and he's ended up missing weight. Maybe the Eggington fight
Re: Frankie Gavin - IBO World Title
I like Frankie, really nice lad and with all my heart would love to see him win a world title
Don’t think light welter personally due to his age,but I would love to see him in shape at welter,if he does do that now it’s a shame he never managed it earlier

It's nearly 10 years since Beijing - it seems that some things haven't changed

Rip it up Frankie. Prepare well x
If he prepared well he'd be a light welterweight, simply not dedicated enough.

Re: Frankie Gavin - IBO World Title
As an aside to Frankie's weight and commitment issues how many elite level fighters are juicing. Massive admirer of Pacman from the day he hit the states and beat the brilliant Barrera jumping from flyweight to super bantam. Made a strong case for him being too much for Joan Guzman at SFW, a fight that never came to fruition. However never thought he would win world titles all the way up to Margarito at LMW without looking fleshy and carrying strength and power. Even the greatest LW of all time Roberto Duran looked fleshy at LMW and MW. It seems a modern phenomenon that elite level fighters can carry their skillset, strength and power up through the weights. Are modern fighters juicing or is it pure nutrition. Discuss

Given Gavins history you look stupid saying things like this. Everybody knows what Gavin is about. He's not fooling anybody. I've seen the picture with my own eyes but can't be arsed searching Twitter for it. It's on my computer somewhere as your computer automatically saves what you browse. Wouldn't be surprised if Frankie had it taken down as he looked 14 stone plus and yes it was recent. You just come across like a hanger on hoping for a few quid out of Gavins next few fights.

Re: Frankie Gavin - IBO World Title
If some people want to pretend the IBO is a legitimate world title then who are we to tell them it isn't?
But it clearly isn't
Putting it on the same level as the WBA is just bizarre, ok the WBA have made themselves a laughing stock in recent years but its still the original alphabet org. Its taken the WBO almost 30 years to get some recognition and they still aren't viewed on quite the same level as the other 3 so lets not allow another tinpot org to proclaim itself as a genuine world governing body.
Less is more, we already have the main 4 plus the Ring, lineal etc

frankie on his game should be good enough
Re: Frankie Gavin - IBO World Title
Some of the stuff on this thread is just silly. Let's establish some facts:
1) The IBO is nowhere near being regarded as a legitimate world title. To claim otherwise is ridiculous.
2) Frankie Gavin is never going to be a world-class fighter. The best win on his record is probably when he managed to squeak past Bradley Skeete three years ago and getting stopped by Sam Eggington a year ago gives a firm indication of where he sits in the scheme of things.
3) His career has been characterised by under-achievement and poor discipline. He is now 32 and the chances of him reversing his bad habits are marginal at best.
4) If he wins his next fight he will not be a credible world champion and he will not be deserving of a fight with Jeff Horn. Gavin is currently ranked 33 in the world at Welterweight by Boxrec, which simply highlights the fact there are plenty of fighters more deserving.

Not half as stupid has you look and sound looking at a photo on social media and making your own assumption of a persons weight in that picture and not knowing when it was takenTheLeprechaun wrote: ↑16 Dec 2017, 11:31Boxingcutsman wrote: ↑15 Dec 2017, 19:30Not half as retarded you would have to be to look at a photo from god knows when it was taken and guess someone’s weightTheLeprechaun wrote: ↑15 Dec 2017, 18:34

Re: Frankie Gavin - IBO World Title
There's so much weird shit around Frankie Gavin.
There are people who seem to believe in him with almost religious zeal, who are prepared to fight his corner on here.
And yet he's never really once backed that up in a professional ring.
Are you guys secretly his family members or something?

So we have it from the horses mouth that Gavin is on the weight!
Is he cut and in shape too?

Re: Frankie Gavin - IBO World Title
its all been said before with gavin. because he could coast and get away with it, he looked good enough up to world level where he was found out. same could be said for saunders, but it looks like he's knuckled down at the right time and he could go all the way. im sure gavin could have done the same with the right guidance and commitment. unforunately i think its too late for gavin now.
Re: Frankie Gavin - IBO World Title
Was quite disappointed with Joshua on SPOTY last night getting interviewed on the main stage saying that he "held 3 of the 5 world titles" ! TosserJackson328 wrote: ↑16 Dec 2017, 13:58 If some people want to pretend the IBO is a legitimate world title then who are we to tell them it isn't?

Re: Frankie Gavin - IBO World Title
Bookies wouldn't pay out on Gavin being a world champion if he won an ibo title. Same as the wbu and wbf etc.
When he turned pro, Gavin was 3/1 to win a world title. Real shame it never came to pass and that he's not headlining really big shows locally.
Good luck to him and hope he earns some money from this but I think most people have just become fed up with hearing the same stuff coming from him and then turning up out of shape.
Is he still on beans on toast and fizzy pop?

Re: Frankie Gavin - IBO World Title
Can anyone post this picture of Gavin looking massive? Can't find it.
Re: Frankie Gavin - IBO World Title
It's arguably the 5th biggest Title in modern boxing but I do like how they never force their champions to fight their own 'mandatory' challengers who suddenly appear out of nowhere.
I say good luck to Frankie Gavin and hopefully he can win himself a IBO World title to help him set up bigger and better fights
