Re: Round-By-Round - Billy Joe Saunders (c) vs. David Lemieux - December 16th 2017
Douglas loaded up way too much in the first two rounds; almost every punch of his was a power shot.
My advice to Spike would've been to work the body through the middle rounds to dominate the latter half. Douglas was visibly tiring by the 4th. He can come again, but he needs to learn how to pace himself behind relaxed jabs. When he resorted to his jab through tiredness shortly before the end, he had fair success with it.
Good, tough performance from Spike. I had it even at the time.

I think he has a decent chin, but had just blown himself out. He was doing well hooking off of his jab when he kept it long, but he seemed intent on looking for the KO.

Saunders wide on points in a spoiling-filled bout that sees Lemieux run out of ideas, or Lem by stoppage. I wouldn't bet on either.

Saunders now gone to 1/6 in play

But we know he gets tired when fighting at a pace
Re: Round-By-Round - Billy Joe Saunders (c) vs. David Lemieux - December 16th 2017
Bjs 30-27
But Lemieux started to connect.
Saunders won't be able to keep up this movement for all 12 rounds

40-37
Lemieux just following
Can't cut the ring off.
Fury is cringeworthy on commentary.
Not what he he saying it's because of how inaudible he is with the permanent sore throat he has.

I hope Saunders goes for the stoppage later.
This isn't just a defence. He is boxing on HBO live for the first time.
Comfortably 50-45

Outstanding round 7 by Saunders
He could stop him in round 8

Lemieux hasn't even won a round yet even Adelaide Byrd couldn't give him one

Lemieux did get busted up, but only because he was forced to chase all night and isn't very good at that. Had he refused, I think he'd have lost about 8-4 in a stinker.
Saunders is excellent at what he does, and I don't blame him a bit for boxing that way, but fan-friendly it's not.

I just hope he fights someone decent next. Canelo and Golovkin will rematch May 5th.
Saunders v Jacobs on the undercard would be perfect but too good to be true.
