is lem really levels above him though. thing with spike is that hes had a career until now where his only really notable opponents happened to be guys who would/did beat lemieux too. and bjs beat lem every bit as convingcly as he beat spike. douglas finally represented a level spike shouldve been matched at and he came out with a stoppage win. i would think hed have good chances to beat someone like stevens too.

i imagine it would be competitive at least.

I still think Lemieux is at least a level above though. I know what your saying but anytime spike stepped up he lost very convincly (Saunders, Eubank). His best wins are Douglas, Hall, Fitzgerald....would Spike beat N'dam or Stevens who Lemieux has beaten, I'm not so sure.

Oh yea! Cox would be great. Lemieux is a bridge too far for Spike. I don't think Spikes jab is good enough to stop Lemieux from coming in and knocking his block off. Just because Lemieux looked bad against BJS doesn't mean he isn't still a dangerous puncher.

either way im excited for his career and i think winning by ko in a fun fight on hbo will have opened some doors. i hope for and am optimistic that hes going to get more network support and get matched with solid guys around the top 25.

get him out there and match him like a guy climbing up, and not merely a guy in stay busy fights or an 'opponent' for elites

Mismatch, Lemieux is all wrong for Spike O.

Lemieux still beats pretty much every middleweight outside the top 5 for me. Facing a runner like BJS doesn't really lower what he's good at, he's a great puncher in range with fast, heavy hands. The BJS fight showed he's useless at closing range and cutting the ring. Against a guy like OSullivan that wouldn't be an issue.
