I want to see Saunders staying active till the Canelo-GGG rematch happens.

After Lemieux the next three ranked fighters by WBO are Rob Brant, Jermall or Jacobs. Of course that Murata, Derevchenko and Andrade would be another good opponents for Saunders.

Saunders vs Jacobs would be a nice match-up. :OhYes:

6:41 Jacobs: "Let's make this fight happen. 2018 Saunders vs Jacobs" ; 7:41 "Would I fight BJS in England? Absolutely. I'd definitely love to come to the UK. Especially for a world championship."

I found it intriguing to hear the HBO analysts (Jim Lampley, Max Kellerman, Roy Jones Jr. and also Harold Lederman) lavishing great praise on Billy Joe Saunders last night, despite the Brits' bout against Lemieux being one-sided and lacking action, which somehow leads me to believe that they were trying to "sell" the WBO champions' name to their audience.

I guess it seems that HBO intend to involve Saunders in more fights against their stable of fighters during 2018 (i.e. Golovkin, Canelo, Jacobs, Andrade etc.).

Therefore, with GGG & Canelo being tied-up for the first half of next year, I'd expect to see HBO trying to orchestrate bouts between Saunders against Jacobs or Andrade in the near future.

That being said, the more likely scenario would be for the Brit to perform an interim voluntary defence of his belt in the UK against an easy and lucrative opponent like Tommy Langford, Conrad Cummings or Martin Murray, rather than risk losing his title against high-risk low-reward challengers like Andrade and Jacobs.

True but I'd love to see Saunders vs Jacobs winner vs GGG vs Canelo II winner. :OhYes:

I agree with you about wanting to see the victor of Saunders-Jacobs versus the winner of the Golovkin-Canelo rematch...

Unfortunately for us, the preferences of hardcore boxing aficionados aren't usually considered.

The most sensible commercial option will be chosen when determining Saunders' career path and the Brit is now able to engage is several voluntary title defences and bide his time waiting for a mega payday against the fighter that emerges victorious from the GGG-Canelo rematch.

I don't expect Billy Joe to needlessly risk millions of dollars taking on a dangerous opponent for a relatively small payday.

Indeed Saunders has that belt which could secure a multi-million $ fight with Canelo-GGG winner. Saunders would 'ride' with this good victory over Lemieux and probably have a stay busy fight.

Even though he took limited damage. He's got a voluntary next and that is not going to be a Jacobs ir Charlo. Big risk and very little reward. He will take an easy defence.

Rob Brant? I had to look him up, had no clue who he was. Anyway, he lost his last fight by UD, and is a Super Middle.

Andrade would be good. Someone needs to shut this kid up, and in the meantime we can see actually if he is as good as he says.
