Forum changes didn't screw me too badly this time.

If you are in the top 3 (or so) you can choose to private message me your pick for the last fight.

If you do this --DO NOT-- post a pick in the thread as well.

I would strongly suggest to add as a last fight of the season:

December 31st, 2017
WBA Super & IBF Light Flyweight Unification
Ryoichi Taguchi - Milan Melindo

That's all folks... 2017 season is over. Unless someone finds a mistake, the current standings are final.

Disappointed in myself... really died over the last quarter or so of the season.. have been really unfortunate with the toss-up fights.

As has been the case for the past few seasons, I won't promise a next season until the thread(s) appear in the forum.

Spence/Peterson on 1/20 seems like a good first fight. If not that one, then Usyk/Briedis on 1/27.

Thank you JCS for all the hard work. Great job, as always. :TU:

For me personally it was the worst year I've ever had. Still finished it a bit higher than I expected a couple of months ago.

Thank you JCS, It’s been very fun. I would love it is you could get more points picking a significant underdog but....it’s great as is and you get points anyhow.

Thank you as always JCS for a superbly run competition. I love it.

Another sickening second for me...

Well done, Tanzio. Very nice win mate.

If it’s back in 2018, I sure will be!

Thank you, Ally-M1. I thought you had me there for a bit. That was an amazing surge you had in the last month!

Thanks again, JCS.

Great job & thanks for the effort. I don't know half the fighters outside the HW division so it is tough to break the top 10. If it was all HW fights I stand a good chance of winning it all!!!! Joey Abell vs Zimnoch x2 sounds more up my alley... hahaha! see ya next year...I still don't know how I got 19 straight picks in a row correct a few years ago. I was one of the few who picked Salido to beat Lomachenko & Thompson to beat Price that year...

I have thought about it on and off all week. I really can’t think of anything that would no doubt improve upon what you have created, JCS. It is simple to participate. You can put as much or as little effort as you choose into it. There are basic tactics and strategy decisions to make. The 2Xs and 3Xs give the game some depth. It tests your consistency over a long timeline. It is possible to come from behind and win at the wire.

It is an authentically excellent competition. I hope that you are proud of it.

I have/had a goal of automating fight selection somehow.. haven't had the time to work on that. I know I miss fights from time-to-time... just life getting in the way.

I suppose you could argue more/less 2Xs... 3Xs... maybe a 4X?

More props always SEEMS like a good idea.. but while I have resourcefulness in loads, I lack in creativity.

I thought of something for your consideration. I am not married to the idea but just wondering what you think.

What if the person with the longest correct pick streak for the year got maybe 2-5 points per pick in the streak?

Also, what if the person who got the highest tough pick score at the end of the year got a 20-50 point bonus?

How about the person with the most perfect pick getting awarded 2-5 points per pick?

Maybe the person who picks the most correct gets 1 point per correct pick?

Just some ideas that would reward people for being best in certain categories.

Sounds good... About the tough pick score, everyone having a positive number, could get that amount of points, divided by ten. Like, if someone has got +138.6 at end of season, gets 14 points added. Like? :TU:

I also think that the person collecting the most points overall (prior to the tallying of individual category bonuses) would need to get a significant bonus, since that is the toughest accomplishment.

Seems like this might get too complicated the more I think about it.

Maybe if the bonuses for category excellence could only affect the positions below the top three it would work? :maybe:

Not a fan of season-long bonuses or streak bonuses, etc.. seems redundant.. if you are doing THAT well you are already being rewarded with points!

I probably need to make more of those theme (multi-fight, etc) bonuses.. but again, I get in a routine and my creativity goes to zero.
