Could have fought Porter.
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Brandon Rios - February 17, 2018
Don´t be surprised. This guy fought ROD SALKA not too long ago

Disgraceful fight. Rios is beyond shot. This Garcia will win but he’s a real cream puff picker, he should have fought Sammy Vasquez in hus prime. He avoided him like the clap. Garcia is a real wuss. Errol Spence is another fine from fighter who would carve up the Philadelphia Mexican

Pretty much everything that's wrong with boxing in a nutshell right here. Garcia sits on the shelf for nearly a year and then comes back to fight a no hoper who is way past it and should probably be retired. Meanwhile, we have Porter, a totally natural opponent for Garcia who is signed to the same promoter, sitting around twiddling his thumbs. So lame.
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Brandon Rios - February 17, 2018
What an awful fight! Garcia is a fuckin cock bag
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Brandon Rios - February 17, 2018
I'd rather watch this fight than a fight with porter.

I wouldn't say bore as everytime I watch I am too irritated to be bored. But yes, his style is the reason I don't want to watch him fight garcia or anyone else. I wish he would just go away.

I'm totally with you on Porter. Who in the hell would want to fight him? He bulls his way in and wrestles more than boxes. The only one I might look forward to him fighting is Spence, who will punish him coming in like he does, and will be the stronger guy. Maybe that is why Porter won't fight Spence. Crawford has the lateral movement to make Porter look bad too.

Match up is ok though not blowing my socks off either.
Style wise it could entertain.

Rios is an automatic win for Garcia... He's a terrible boxer and It's a bullshitt fight which I don't want to see... Feather hitter Bradley stopped Rios in a stinker... They stunk it up... Porter is a very good boxer and puncher and would have a very good chance of beating Garcia... That's why Garcia doesn't want the fight - he could get his ass kicked again so he going with the sure bet... A guy who insisted he was retiring from Boxing he's so washed up... This is the guy they want.jockpunk wrote: ↑22 Dec 2017, 14:18I wouldn't say bore as everytime I watch I am too irritated to be bored. Danny Garcia: I'm Ready To Take Over The Welterweight Division!
Now he's vowed to fight and beat the top fighters who are currently holding belts at 147-pounds.
"I was the reigning champion for six years, so I needed the rest. I'm ready to kick off the year in style and take over the welterweight division," Garcia said.
In his last fight, a welterweight clash of world title holders, Garcia lost via split decision to now unified WBC, WBA world champion Keith Thurman in a hard-fought fight.
Now he's going against the 31-year-old Rios, who is 34-3 with one draw and 25 knockouts. The former WBA lightweight champion dropped three of his past six starts, including a 2013 Macao matchup against Manny Pacquiao, but won his
most recent bout by knocking out Mexico's Aaron Herrera this past June after a 19-month layoff.
Because of their styles, Garcia expects fireworks from the sound of the first bell.
"What's interesting in this fight with Brandon Rios is our styles. We both like to come forward. This kind of matchup will bring out the best in both of us. I'm excited to be back in Las Vegas. I've had some of my best performances and some of my biggest fights there. I beat Lucas Matthysse and Amir Khan in Vegas. You fight in Las Vegas, you're a superstar," added Garcia.

Re: Danny Garcia vs. Brandon Rios - February 17, 2018
Why so much animosity for Garcia????
Haven't you guys ever heard of a stay-busy, warm-up fight?
So Rios isn't the best opponent out there. What of it? Is Garcia a champion and obliged to fight a top contender?
I don't recall Garcia ever running from challenges. He's fought a slew of big names.
He hasn't fought in nearly a year ( and that fight WAS against a big name) so now he's coming back and is taking a low risk matchup to erase the rust.
Big deal. Garcia is entitled. It's not like other fighters never get their feet wet after a lengthy layoff.
Sorry that his short term plan doesn't meet your approval
When Garcia spends the rest of 2018 challenging the Porters and Spences, I assume that you'll all apologize. Right?
By the way, jewboypgh, Danny Garcia is a Philadelphia Puerto Rican. NOT a Philadelphia Mexican.

It's not an exciting match-up, but at least Rios will try to make a fight out of it. DG needs a fight to get his confidence back up. It was no surprise to me he didn't want to fight Spence right now. If I were him I wouldn't want Porter anytime, due to his ugly style. I look forward to him and Crawford squaring off too, since I believe they split in the amateurs.
He is in a tough weight class, with only an outside shot at becoming champion again, with Spence, Crawford, & Thurman at 147. I actually thought Lamont Peterson got the best of him. Maybe a re-match with Lucas Matthysse would be good.

Right. He is a Haymon fighter. What else could we expect? Fights once a year with a meaningful one once every 3-5 years.SenorPipino wrote: ↑24 Dec 2017, 10:58 Why so much animosity for Garcia????

I have no animosity for Garcia. I have animosity for promoters who make mismatches and networks that enable them by paying for it.
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Brandon Rios - February 17, 2018
You can easily criticize DG for some of his competition, but name another current guy at 140 or 147 that by far over-shadows his resume? I agree he has taken some easy ones, but he has an impressive resume over-all.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑24 Dec 2017, 12:47Right. He is a Haymon fighter. What else could we expect? But Garcia is simply the better fighter, no matter how Bam Bam chooses to fight.
An easy decision or a late KO victory is in the cards for Garcia.
