Triple title fight show to be broadcast on Freesports TV
Boxing fans will be able to tune in and watch three major title fights for free in the New Year, with Dennis Hobson’s next show being broadcast live on FreeSports TV (Sky Channel 424; Freeview Channel 95; Talk Talk Channel 95; BT Channel 95).
Hobson first teamed up with free-to-air broadcaster Freesports TV in October last year when Liam Cameron snatched the Commonwealth middleweight title from fellow Sheffield fighter Sam Sheedy in eight blistering rounds.
On February 2nd, 2018, Cameron returns to the same venue where he won the title – Sheffield’s Ponds Forge Arena - when he tops the bill, making the first defence of his Commonwealth strap, taking on Hertfordshire’s Elliott Matthews.
Also sharing top-of-the-bill status will be Barnsley’s British bantamweight champion, Josh Wale, who will defend his Lonsdale Belt for a second time against Lincoln’s Bobby Jenkinson. While, the English super-flyweight title will also be up for grabs on the night when local man Loua Nassa and Guernsey’s Brad Watson go head-to-head.
“This show will be a co-feature,” explained Hobson, “with both Josh and Liam defending their titles and topping the bill. We also have Loua Nassa against Brad Watson fighting for the English title, and the plan is for all three bouts to be televised by Freesports TV. So, it's a great show, and boxing fans can watch it for free, so that's brilliant.
“Our first show with Freesports was fantastic with a terrific fight between Sam Sheedy and Liam Cameron, and the feedback about that show was amazing. But this show has three title fights on and any of them could top a bill.
“Josh Wale is a great story. I've worked with him previously, he's a great pro, he's always in good fights and I'm pleased for him and his family that he's finally won the British title. Who knows what more he can go onto do. He never stops coming forward does Josh, and he's made for TV. His opponent, Bobby Jenkinson, comes to win too so it's a cracking fight, and great to get a British title fight live on Freesports TV.
“Elliott Matthews is no walkover for Liam Cameron. Elliott is unbeaten and won the English title in his last fight, so getting a Commonwealth shot straight afterwards is a great opportunity for him. So that's another smashing fight, it's a proper trade fight. Liam can't keep getting opportunities, so there can't be any question of him switching off, or being complacent. He's set his standard now by beating Sheedy and winning the title, and he needs to keep moving forward and put on a good performance on February 2nd.
“Then Loua Nassa against Brad Watson for the English title, that's a proper match-up between two hungry fighters, and whoever wins will be in line for some big opportunities. These three main fights are more competitive than many you'll see on Sky Sports Box Office shows, and fans will get to watch it for free, so that’s brilliant. We’re really delivering for boxing fans, and I hope everybody supports the show and tunes in to watch.”

Re: Triple title fight show to be broadcast on Freesports TV
Life is sweet right now for Barnsley “Outlaw” Josh Wale, who defends his British bantamweight title against Lincoln “Dazzler” Bobby Jenkinson in February in Sheffield and moves potentially closer to his dream of a Lonsdale Belt for life. “Winning the British title means everything to me,” he told Boxing News. “Since I was eight years old this is all I've ever wanted. I didn't come in the gym like all the other kids, dreaming of a winning a world title. It's always been about the Lonsdale belt.”
Wale won the title in the summer with a hard-earned decision over Dundee's Jamie Wilson and retained two months later with a late knockout of Brummie Don Broadhurst, so two more notches on the magnificent old Belt and it's his. He looks a different animal at bantamweight, stronger and more confident, after years of coming up short at super-bantamweight. One of those who beat him is Gamal Yafai, the talented ex-Olympian who also holds a win over Jenkinson but whereas Wale took Yafai into the trenches for 12 rounds before conceding a decision, Jenkinson was stopped in seven with body shots. Jenkinson was also undone with body shots by Welsh battler Robbie Turley – and Wale is a good body puncher.
Nevertheless, the challenger whips himself into great shape and enjoyed a brief spell as Commonwealth super-bantamweight champion a couple of years ago and is hoping to rejuvenate his career as Wale did: by dropping down to bantamweight. Jenkinson certainly won't have to go looking for the rugged champion and exchanges could be lusty in the early rounds, with Wale, who has a history of marking up, shrugging off the claret to grind out an exciting late-round stoppage.
Also on the card, local man Liam Cameron defends his Commonwealth middleweight title against Watford's Eliott Matthews, the reigning English champion.
Cameron is an in-and-out performer but he showed real power to overwhelm Sheffield rival Sam Sheedy in eight rounds to lift the Commonwealth belt in October, having failed in two previous attempts a weight up, and his confidence will be sky-high. Southpaw Matthews is unbeaten and a very tidy boxer but he lacks a big punch and over 12 rounds will surely struggle to keep Cameron at bay.

Re: Triple title fight show to be broadcast on Freesports TV
Elliott Matthews is a fighter in a hurry. The 36-year-old Watford stylist challenges Liam Cameron for the Commonwealth middleweight title in Sheffield in February knowing that time is distinctly against him in a young man's sport like boxing.
Unbeaten in 21 fights (one draw), Matthews enjoyed a long amateur career and then a four-year spell in the paras before switching to the pro ranks at the age of 30, rattling off win after win until the word was out and domestic opposition began to dry up. His thought his luck had changed when he was set to challenge Nick Blackwell for the British middleweight title in November 2015 but eight days prior to the fight he was cut in sparring and that was that. (Jack Arnfield stepped in.)
Matthews ticked over against a succession of imports before a change of management led to a shot at the English middleweight title earlier this month and, watched by Cameron at ringside, he shrugged off cuts over both eyes to nick a 10-round decision over Chatham's previously unbeaten Grant Dennis, countering smartly on the retreat throughout. Now for Cameron himself, and Matthews has a real shout if his eyebrows hold up and he sticks to his southpaw boxing. If he gets drawn into a war, it goes the champion's way.

Really good night of boxing.
Cameron-Sheedy was a absolute corker.
Cameron against Matthews is a tough fight to call. Real 50/50.
Good little showcase for Nassa and Wale. Fights look competetive on paper but both should prevail and look good doing it.
As mentioned Bravo to all concerned.

Re: Triple title fight show to be broadcast on Freesports TV
Looking forward to seeing Cameron out again, he was pretty much punch perfect against Sheedy and his body shots were sickening, I thought this was the same Elliott Matthews who challenged Blackwell for the British not too long ago but it seems its a different bloke, this ones unbeaten and has wins over some well known journeymen
Big step up for Matthews, hard to say whether he can take it, Cameron will be full of confidence, making the 1st defence of his Commonwealth title in his hometown and I expect him to win convincingly
Hard to say though considering ive never seen Matthews, maybe this is his coming out party, a shot at a Commonwealth title and TV exposure will surely bring out the best of him
