Victimization on BoxRec

Post by candyslim »

It has come to my attention that one of our prolific and much respected posters is having his posts systematically deleted almost as soon as they appear, whether they contravene any forum rule or not -and in the vast majority of cases they don't.

I refer to Saadoffthedeck. We have crossed swords many times but I do not want to see him forced off this forum by someone with a grudge. This is small minded and vindictive. This is undemocratic. This is an abuse of power. This should not be allowed to continue.

Will whoever is doing it please desist from acting like a spiteful child. Thank you.

That shouldn't make a difference. I'd feel the same way if it were happening to IronFrost and I think he's an idiot.

Can we get back on topic please. Whatever you think of Saad, even if it's "he's an a-hole" (and yes, that thought has occurred to me more than once :D ) there is a principle here that ought to matter to people.

Maybe he did something that warranted him leaving.

If you know something I don't I'd be interested to hear it. If that were the case would he not have to serve a period of being banned?

That seems to me to be a far more righteous and legitimate sanction than this snidey half measure.

Exactly. Fully aggree.

There was also one mod who deletedme just because he had a different oppinion than mine. There 1 or 2 mods who use there power negativly. Banning deleting for 0 real reason is wrong.

Worry about yourself. I don't hear Saad crying about it. If you are thin skinned or insecure, yeah I suppose he bothers you. I'm sure some say the same about me. If I get super irritated I just leave for a while. At least Saad knows boxing better than many others here. I think we could all name 4 or 5 posters, that if banned, would make a lot of the good posters come back. Mods do their job the best they can. Do you agree with every decision ref's in sporting events make? If you don't like it go elsewhere.

Here on boxrec we have idiots, trolls, nuthuggers, know-it-alls, jerks, and EO. Not sure what category he is in. Combination of all probably. Not much different than any other site.

Not sure who that's directed at bh or what the comment was prompted by.

Incidently for anyone who's interested, further information can be discerned from a thread on the off-topic forum called "Is Saad gone?" I would post a link but I don't know how, if anyone would be so kind.

Badhusker, I think that you now have to come up with an OP ranking all us idiots in one of your categories. That would be hilarious. Or...Like a P4P ranking for the goons that frequent this site. I'm torn between idiot and jerk for myself... i think both cover me pretty well.

I think Saad is kind of an a hole, but an entertaining a hole.

In the middle of interesting debates, he will do his  That's really immature.

But I've never seen him seriously threaten or malign anyone or go off on a racist rant or anything.

The mods finally got a brain and removed that clown. Dude didn't know boxing, and he had stupid opinions. Instead of debating someone like a man, he just puts them on ignore when he can't win.

It appears I may not have been in possession of all the facts so I apologize if I have been unfair to Mimmy or any other mod. I'd like to see Saad back though - goodwill to all men and all that.

How can he cry about it if he is banned? That is a clear abuse by mods.

You can't accuse the moderators of behaving inappropriately if you're not in possession of any of the facts relating to Saad's ban.

It's as simple as that!

Don't act like a fûckîng twät by arguing against a stance that you clearly don't understand! :OhYes:

I can assure you the ban was proportionate with the events of yesterday.

I know on occasions things happen that can seem to be harsh or over zealous. I had to deal with the situation at hand along with another mod for over 4 hours until we finally concluded the whole issue.

I'm sorry if you do not agree but speculating events or happenings that did not happen is not helpful and just causes further tension.

Believe me we do not ban long term posters on a whim or anyone for that matter unless we have justifiable reasons.

I feel bad about this whole situation but enough was enough.

Merry Christmas.

Why don't you ban enlightened one? His old account fergus got banned for trolling & now he's even worse.

Saad was the best boxing poster on the board. Enlightened One is the worst.

It's true Saad could be opiniated.

Many times his posts were so different in tone/content i could have swore it came from completely different posters.

Maybe the ban could be only temporary?
