Realistically how it would go BJS vs Golovkin atm ?

Post by apollo creed »

After his biggest performance of his career to date, Saunders is thinking he can handle Golovkin since he's getting old. How this fight would go atm ?

well ggg is way better than lem but hes also slow and easy to hit.he has areas that are expliitable by bjs strengths. and ggg imo is vastly overrated at cutting the ring off. he hardly looked great in that front vs brook and jacobs.

bjs would definitely be scoring regularly. question is can he take how much, because ggg is certainly gonna land more than lem. but personally i feel ggg more of an accumulation hitter who will need many shots, rather than the monster atg puncher hes billed as.bjs has never been down either.

imo with ggg aging i think bjs absolutely has a chance. i know ive said it a lot but i really believe ggg to be nowhere as good as many believe.i dont think he is or will be into the future levels above a motivated bjs.

If Billy Joe Saunders hadn't produced a career-best performance when he dominated and embarrassed David Lemieux on his home turf in such impressive fashion, the Kazakh may have underestimated him, which would have given the Brit a decent chance to score the upset.

However, I feel that GGG and his team would now consider any challenge posed by Saunders as deadly serious and would ensure he would be at the peak of his powers when sharing the ring with Billy Joe.

At this point in time, I believe that Golovkin would likely defeat Saunders, he wouldn't look impressive in doing so, because I feel the Brit's awkward style is effective enough to make anyone look bad.

It will be a tough fight for the first six rounds or so, but Gennady will take over the winning momentum during the second half of the bout to either score a late KO or a decision victory.

If Golovkin ends up participating in a third bout against Canelo and Saunders continues to improve at the Brendan Ingle gym, then I'd probably favour the Brit to score an upset in twelve months time or so, because GGG isn't getting any younger and he seems to be showing signs that he's on the decline.

The timing of this matchup will likely determine who will emerge victorious from this bout.

BJS probably has the best chance of any middle weight Vs GGG with his movement but I'm not sure if he could keep it up for 12 hard RDS lemeux was slow and Taylor made for billy GGG has a lot more tools and he tends to crank the pressure up as the fight goes on having said that I don't think Golovkin is the fighter of a few years ago and he let canelo back into the Inthe last 3 RDS instead of closing it out

People soon forget how poor BJS looked just two fights ago against Artur Akavov. In his next fight, Akavov barely got by a guy with a .500 record. Some legitimately think BJS should have lost the fight against Akavov.

I will also remind everyone again what BJS told Eubank Jr. a year ago, that GGG would beat them both in the same night. GGG will KO BJS.

To me, GGG is an all time great and the best MW that i've seen in my lifetime (40years of watching boxing). With that said, if a year from now we see the same BJS that we saw the other night inside the ring with GGG then my money would be on BJS. That doesn't mean that I think BJS is an all time great. That just means that I saw a style that would pose a HUGE problem for GGG at this stage of his career. Great fighters have their kryptonite boxers out there that always give them trouble...Manny's was JMM...Tarver for RJJR...Mosely for ODH..Fraz and Ali.

BJS seemed as though he could fight 24 rounds straight with that same style. He wasn't tiring. It would be interesting to see the affect GGG"s thumping jab would have on BJS's footwork and motion.

BJS's performance against Lemieux was the most perfect exhibition of Pure Boxing that I've ever seen in a 12 round championship fight. It appears to me that the only thing that could stop this kid might be the space between his ears.

Saunders expressed that comment in 2014. Roughly this time last year Billy Joe signed a contract to face GGG, but Golovkin refused to take the bout.

"People soon forget" simple facts, don't they?

I wouldn't be surprised if Saunders would outbox GGG. Let's face it Golovkin isn't a spring chicken anymore plus he had 350 amateur fights. He has enough wear and tear.

what bjs showed, is that when he's fired up to perform, he's every bit as good as ggg ...the thing about lemieux is, he had been considered ggg's best opponent (next to kassim ouma) prior to ggg's fight with kell brook.

saunders handled lemieux every bit as easy as ggg did, except for the KO...

but the thing is, if you look at ggg's best opponents pre-brook (rubio, lemieux, geale, stevens), those guys have all also been wiped out by the likes of cotto, anthony dirrell, lemieux himself and BJS....which indicates ggg's pre-brook competition was pretty damn third-rate.

now, ggg is fighting guys like canelo and jacobs and ggg is losing to and drawing with them, i think ggg's been exposed as a good but not great fighter....just like saunders. i think saunders has an even shot to beat ggg...

N**** please, Hopkins (2001) beats GGG easily.
Possibly makes it look like the Tito fight or even the Pavlik fight.

If GGG doesn't slide and stays on the level he was against Jacobs and Canelo, he beats Saunders. GGG has the best footwork, so BJS would not be so successful in his running.

At the moment I'd still favor Golovkin, but this matchup gets increasingly difficult for GGG with the passage of time I'd say.

One of the golovkins biggest advantages is cutting off the ring. Saunders has not serious punching power so GGG can walk through him and wear him down. IMO Saunders can be pretty easy fight for GGG. Alvarez can find himself in trouble against him, styles makes fights, still think Canelo can beat Saunders too. Saunders, Charlo, Jacobs, Derevyanchenko need to fight each other, winners can demand fight with GGG and Canelo. :box: :box: :box:

Yes he did look poor but I think Billy Joe is in much better shape mentally and physically, than he was then. Triple G isn't two dimensional Lemieux though, but he is showing signs that he's past his best and BJS is well equipped to give him a very difficult evening maybe even take the decision win.

BJS at his best is awkward for anybody, but especially those who come forward slowly. As RJJr noticed, he was far better at moving to his right than to his left. Unfortunately for him, neither Lemieux or or his corner were able to spot that during the fight.

By the time time he fights GGG even the tactically mediocre Abel Sanchez should be able to get something useful from re-watching that fight.

The age thing is the major problem as someone previously noted in GGG's inabilty to close out the Canelo fight.

Golovkin wins this fight in 2018 but first comes Canelo...

Canelo and Jacobs did well against GGG because they can punch. BJS cant. he would get koed like brook.

Yup. GGG was hesitating to fully throw his money punches against both of these guys. I think Golovkin would march forward and unload his power punches against BJS with no mercy.

Well, who could argue with those facts and rationale? You back up that statement so well, I just have to agree with you. GGG is about to shatter Bhop's title defense record this year unless Canelo steals the decision for good and he will end the year with the unification but with BJS. Then guys like you can go screw.

Actually, Bhop and Pavlik was the other fight I was thinking about in terms of great performances too. So I see your point but in the Bhop/Pavlik fight, you can tell that Bhop just had Pavlik's number. Pavlik was done before that fight with all the drugs and crap he was doing. BJS just looked like he could go and do that to almost everyone in the division. I didn't get that feeling watching Bhop that night.

The fight against Pavlik was at LHW. In the last two MW fights, Hopkins got beaten by Taylor who is nowhere close to prime Golovkin.
