Promoter allegedly, speaking at a press conference for Billy Joe Saunders’ triumphant return from across the pond, confirmed a pair of solid fights for early 2018: the previously rumored Carl Frampton-Nonito Donaire matchup on April 7th in Belfast and a featherweight matchup between Lee Selby and Josh Warrington in Leeds.
The latter does not yet have a date.
As mentioned in a previous article, Frampton (24-1, 14 KO) vs. Donaire (38-4, 24 KO) is an interesting stylistic matchup that could produce some excellent action. If you’ve got BT Sport, don’t miss it.
Selby (26-1, 9 KO) vs. Warrington (26-0, 6 KO) is pretty much the UK’s top domestic battle in the lower weight classes. Selby has made four successful defenses of his IBF title, including one earlier this month, and Warrington has improved his career KO total by 50% in his last three fights.
In addition to these matches, Warren stated that negotiations have begun to put Sadam Ali against Liam Smith. He also mentioned Terry Flanagan vs. Maurice Hooker, but the less said about that the better.
Somewhat decent card, but there are definitely better fights out there for Frampton and Selby. Hell them fighting each other would be better for that matter.

Frampton vs. Selby should be next.. or even vs. Warrington. At windsor Park..
Donaire is solid on paper look at who he's fought, Darchiniyan Rigondeaux Arce Montiel and others he's in good standing.
Question is what kind of shape is he in nowadays.
Why has the title of this thread and the content of the first post changed? It was alright for several hours, as I used foreign accents when writing the name of the boss of Queensberry Promotions.
Absurd! Has he threatened BoxRec somehow!? Why does BoxRec automatically substitute Frånk Wãrręnś name with the word "allegedly"?
Selby-Warrington is a perfect match-up. It is the fight Selby should have to bring him closer to par with the elites before he faces one of them.
Frampton - Donaire is solid. Donaire is supposed to be the best opponent Rigondeaux ever beat in his professional career; and Rigondeaux was supposed to be some sort of god. Although, in an ideal world, I would prefer to see Donaire fight someone a little weaker, like Quigg or Selby.
However, the logic of all of this is probably to set-up a meeting between Frampton and Selby. So these match-ups make sense. They probably didn't want to match Frampton with someone good enough to jeopardize the Frampton - Selby match-up, like Russell or Mares. Apart from Russell and Mares, Frampton has already fought Santa Cruz and Quigg, plus Quigg and Warrington are already booked on the other side of the card. That leaves Oscar Valdez, Joseph Diaz, or the much more marketable Nonito Donaire.

"Warren has admitted to have issued over 40 writs,[9] mainly against newspapers over various negative comments, including winning a £10,000 payment against the Daily Mirror.[8][9] Warren accepted £30,000 in libel damages against the Daily Record newspaper in respect of false allegations that he dishonestly fixed the outcome of the fight between John Simpson and Derry Matthews in March 2007, alleging that Warren had met the fight referee the evening before the bout. As well as paying Warren damages and legal costs, the newspaper also published a full apology.[10] Due to the number of writs that has been issued in his career, the internet website Boxrec on its forums prevents his name from appearing in print and instead the word "allegedly" appears in place of his name. Other popular forums have been forced to censor his surname to prevent legal action being taken against them."

Not a great move by Frampton here. Donaire still has pop in that left hand and I give Donaire a very good chance of pulling off an upset in this one. But if Frampton wins, he will not get proper credit for it. A good promoter doesn't put his fighter in LOSE/LOSE situations. Not a huge fan of Frampton's moves this year.
Two solid fights. Frampton looked like ass last time out for 4 rounds and needs a big name to inspire him, for Donaire a win puts him right back in the mix

Donaire is well past his prime and best weight.
Those losses to Walters and Magdaleno weren't illusions.
He even struggled in that rematch with Darchinyan.
Frampton should handle him convincingly.
Donaire remains a name that will attract a paying audience, but there's little substance left at the top level.
Donaire is past his prime, but Frampton didn't look at all that great his last fight either. Also, Donaire still has top-level power, even at FW going by what he did to Vetyeka and Walters. Frampton could get KO'd at any time in this fight.
Magdaleno is a very good fighter. Donaire managed to keep that fight close too. Walters was a gigantic FW with power. Donaire was competitive against both even in his loss.
Frampton vs Donaire is going to be an interesting fight, I doubt Donaire is going to have a power advantage but his experience and skill level in the ring should more then make up for that.
It's a fight that opens a lot of doors for either man with a win, Frampton wins and he's proven himself against one of the best names out there and should Donaire win it does give him a platform to challenge any of the world champions at the feather-weight level.
Selby and Warrington is a fight I've been wanting and now looking forward to for a while, both are incredibly talented and both are two of the best names in the UK right now a clash between the pair in the UK is great for british boxing, win or lose for either man and at the stages of their careers they are at currently, both men can come back from a loss with relative ease.
