Lemieux: With Healthy Shoulder - 100% Sure I'd Beat Saunders!

Lemieux, who was riding a four fight winning streak, said his attack was blunted after he hurt his left hand in the second round and also said he was unable to get off with his jab due to a pre-existing shoulder injury.

"I would have beaten him with a healthy shoulder. I'm 100% sure," said Lemieux.

According to his had trainer Marc Ramsay, this injury certainly had an impact on the pace of the fight.

"The strategy was to quickly get close to Saunders," said Lemieux's coach. "He had to cut the ring and make his strategy with the jab. David was not able to do it because of this injury. He could not fire two jabs in a row."

It's always what if? after a fight.. sure, he may have fought a better fight.. but fact is he didn't and he lost. They need to move on.

You can have all the excuses in the world, but when you lose every minute of every round... it looks really silly.

Reminds me of Pacquiao. Maybe he should go swim in some salt water.

In boxing, there's no excuse for not having an excuse.

If it was a leg injury maybe.
The fact is, he couldn't catch BJS, let alone hit him.

Pretty lame excuse considering he was shut out almost the entire fight.
He should just wish Saunders the best and say the best man won and use the loss as motivation to put himself back in the picture.

There are no excuses acceptable in Boxing. You lost. That's all there is to it.

Especially in a case like this one when Lemieux couldn't even cut the ring off against the guy at any point over 12 rounds.

Really goofy excuse when he lost every round. (Yes, every round in spite of the fact that the official judges generously gave Lemieux a few)

If he was a red haired Mexican he would have at least got a draw vs BJS.

He's not helping his reputation as a no nonsense exciting slugger with these excuses. No one wants to support a whining front runner. Wasn't he a good loser against GGG? I don't remember thinking bad of him after that.

I'm sure the loss is humiliating; it would be better if he just shut himself away didn't speak to the press and worked on learning how to cutting off the ring. Especially with Christmas he had a good opportunity to just disappear for a while.

Also, some fat around his waist prevented him from moving fast enough.

David Lemieux mentally "quit", because he preferred to lose by decision, instead of going out on his "shield" by attempting to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

He didn't try to adapt, he didn't change his failing gameplan and nor did he even try to stop the Brit.
