Naoya Inoue Confirms That Next Defense is Final Fight at 115

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Earlier today at a hotel in Tokyo, there was a medical examination held for the two world championships that will take place on Saturday, December 30 at Bunka Kaikan in the city of Yokohama in Kanagawa, a province adjacent to Tokyo.

According to what Inoue and his camp have firmly told reporters present, the boxer is going to look for a world title opportunity in the bantamweight division in 2018, leaving the super flyweight ranks behind.

A fight against Luis Nery is just as awesome, though.

Naoya Inoue and his team knows how to manage his weight.

They have to do their upmost to compete at their optimal weight class and sometimes fighters grow organically with age, even if it results in sacrificing opportunities to engage in big bouts at a weight class that is no longer considered his natural habitat.

Ancajas,Yafai and Cuadras said no to him. Can't blame him for moving up. He's wanting 3 fights but would have to wait until September for the Srisaket/Estrada Winner

Apparently Zolani Tete is interested. Would be awesome to get Inoue over to the UK but probably unlikely.

Sounds alright to me. I definitely would've loved to have seen him against the Estrada/Rungvisai winner, but I get the feeling Estrada vs Rungvisai is gonna be good enough that we'll want to see it again regardless of who wins so it's all good.

Wanted to see him fight the Sor Rungivsai vs Estrada winner to get a clear #1 at 115, but there's still good fights at Bantamweight. Nery, Tete, Burnett etc. I'm guessing there'd still be demand in Japan for Yamanaka vs Inoue as well? Srisaket looked pretty big for the weight (albeit Gonzalez also looked very small) so there's always the chance that fight could still happen if he follows Inoue up shortly.

If he was to win a world title in his first fight at Bantamweight, which would be his 16th fight overall, he'd surely be the quickest 3 weight world champion?

No chance

Tete would travel to Japan. Inoue should be fighting Tete or Nery next year.

Tete is a nobody for Inoue traveling to fight him. A Nery fight would probably see them both traveling to the US if HBO wants to showcase Inoue some more.

Ohashi has mentioned fighting Tete, doing so as recently as the signing ceremony yesterday.

I understand that. The phrase "probably unlikely" didn't do the actual unlikeliness justice I suppose. I raised the idea in hope rather than any kind of expectation.

Tete doesn't have much of a following here but however unlikely getting Inoue here is I wouldn't think it absolutely impossible.
