Main reason most guys quit the ring early is management problems and the realization that they aren't ever going to be in the big time. A tiny fraction of pro boxers make good money at it. Most who don't have the backing of a major promoter have to work a regular job. Drug use can be a real problem too, as well as injuries and family troubles.

True that.

When someone's ability takes a fast nose dive like Leon Spinks, the problem is often substance abuse. When fighters keep postponing comebacks like Cooney did, it is also often substance abuse, of course sometimes its injuries or managerial problems as well.

I've always found it interesting when someone has an undefeated record and suddenly retires. Sometimes I reckon they find out in sparring they're not going to be big time.

Either he could tell in sparring that he was limited or he made a very huge mistake. If he had a lot of potential his family could have lived in more than one place.

What is he doing now? If he's making good honest money then I'm wrong. My guess is he is partying up a storm, playing video games, and working at a low wage job, if at all. Call me cynical.

Graziano is from my area I know he was strung out pretty bad on meth and said he had tested positive for HIV so other then that I have not heard anything about him in about a year or so. Not sure if it is true but he said it on his Facebook page about a year ago.

At least he was still on weight 3 years after his last bout...

Sorry to hear that. Saw him on TV many years ago and he said he'd have a big fight announcement very soon. That never came.

i never claimed graziano didnt use  on the other hand you suggested that morrison was probably inactive due to abusing substances and would next be heard of in a drug bust

and you said yes THEY are addiccts just because of galens post abot graziano?how the f@ck does that prove madison is out due to being a junkie?

some guys use, but a lot dont. as cap said a lot of boxers just arent making much money out of it and call it a day for financial reasons, without being drug addicts. some are living lives of abuse, but there are many other factors which can lead to inactivity and or early retirement . thats all ive claimed in here my hard of comprehension friend. ive never been in denial about the presence of substance abuse in sports

His last post on Facebook was in December this year it seems.,

' December 5th, next Tuesday, i will either be finally free from house arrest, and out on probation, or ill be taking a lil vacation at a federal prison. If its the latter, write me!'

What a sad story this is. A potential boxing star with a marketable name.

I didn't say I think Graz has a substance abuse problem because of what Galen wrote. I wrote that before Galen told us the truth. I simply guessed it, and I was right. Of course we now all know that Graz has a substance abuse problem.

Here is why I think Madison does as well. Of course I could be wrong.

Madison looked very good in his last fight. He was a golden glove HW champion. He was almost undefeated except for a fight he lost by DQ. If his layoff was due to managerial problems or an injury he would have fought by now.

Did you know that prior to becoming a boxer, Lee Canalito was a defensive tackle for the University of Houston Cougars in 1974 and 1975, and starred in the movie "Paradise Alley" as Victor Carboni with Sylvester Stallone and Armand Assante. He also made a guest appearance on one of the "Magnum, P.I." episodes, and appears in one of Brittney Spears's videos as a body guard. I've known him for 33 years and he still has "Lee Canalito's VIP Boxing Gym" in Houston. One of the nicest guys you'd ever meet.

Thank you too. I may have known that at one time but forgotten it. I'm amazed at how much some of you guys remember.

He fought Greg Sorrentino on national TV and won a decision. I do remember that.

apparently Canalitos coach once said Lee could have been the best defensive player in American football ever if he had good legs.

Facts like Wilt could have beaten Ali and everyone ducked Too Tall as a boxer? :KO:

Nothing wrong with a hunch as long as you don't sell the hunch as a fact, which I did not..

I seen Morrison blast out local pittsburgh guy ed latamire, he pummeled him. I ain't saying latamire was any good, but it was a thunderous KO. I think the fight was in Oklahoma. These fighters need to get out of them little sh*t towns and start fighting in big cities. Ain't nothing good coming out of Oklahoma but steers and queers :shame:
