Allegedly v Hearn ,,, Who wins this ?

Post by Evander »

There's a battle of the promoters going on.
Allegedly and Hearn have been trading verbal blows for the last couple of weeks.

Who's right who's wrong and where does it go from here ?

Fränk Wärrën's affiliation with Box-Nation and BT will provide fighters promoted by Queensberry an opportunity to showcase their talents to roughly six million subscribers. A figure that James DeGale believes exceeds the amount subscribing to Sky Sports.

There are about 12.73m subscribers to Sky, but not all of them subscribe to their sporting channels and I'm not sure if the figures for those channels are officially announced.

For sure, Eddie Hearn is probably leading the proverbial "race" in terms of calibre of fight cards and the amount of high-profile names, but the gap has narrowed significantly during 2017 and it's good to see Wärrën raising his game.

It's highly-likely that Quëënsbërry Promotions will eventually catch-up to Matchroom within the next 18 months or so.

The only real advantage Hearn possesses over Wärrën is Anthony Joshua - the crown jewel of British boxing. He's already a huge PPV draw in the UK and his popularity has compelled HBO to join forces with Matchroom, allowing Eddie to start-up his new US business venture.

So I think there's going to be a huge bidding war to obtain Tyson Fury's promotional rights, because he's AJ's sternest challenge and a fight between the pair is probably the most lucrative bout since the MayMac circus event.

Eddie Hearn has already threatened Tyson Fury by claiming that a bout between himself and AJ may never materialise if he signs with Queensberry.

To be honest, Eddie Hearn has possessed a monopoly over British boxing for quite some time, so I hope to see the amount of competition he receives from the likes of ITV, Dave, BT, Box-Nation etc. become far more aggressive during 2018, because this will force all parties to improve the quality of their product, which can only be a good thing for fight fans.

Therefore, I hope there isn't a "winner" between the Hearn-Wärrën business rivalry, because this would mean that one of them has "failed", which would be detrimental to the general health of British boxing.

Good summary EO. I always think it's a shame these two can't get along. Frank has been at the top a long time, Fresh blood comes along as it always does. You can kick against it or you can accept that it takes the pressure off you, and still leaves you with plenty of opportunities, there's no point getting all bitter and twisted.

As EO says, it’s good for boxing so I‘m all for it. You have to respect allegedly for coming back like that.

No, Who's wrong and Allegedly is right! What is this, an Abbot and Costello routine?

He's allegedly a good counter-puncher, Allegedly that is.
