Roy Jones Jr. Announces February 8 Return: This is My Final Fight!
Former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. (65-9, 47 KOs) has announced what he claims will be the final fight of his professional career.
Jones has set down a cruiserweight fight for February 8 at the Pensacola Bay Center in his hometown of Pensacola, Florida.
Jones, who turns 49-years-old on January 16, will headline Island Fights 46 as part of a card with a mixture of boxing and mixed martial arts bouts.
The event will be preceding Pensacola's Mardi Gras weekend celebration.
"My last day at the Bay. It's my last one for the bayfront ... Civic Center, Pensacola, Bayfront Arena, whatever you want to call it. So if you want to come to see my last day in Pensacola, be there February 8. That's my last one there," said Jones.
According to the Pensacola Journal, tickets for the event will go on sale January 5. The tickets will be priced at $20 to $70.
Island Fights founder and CEO Dean Toole told the paper that he is close to finalizing an opponent for the veteran.
"Words can’t even express how I feel about having Roy on this card," Toole said. "This is amazing, incredible. I am so excited he is going to do his last fight in Pensacola on Island Fights 46.
"The phone calls, the text messages, our social media, Roy’s social media are going crazy. I have never been contacted this much for a fight in the history of us doing this. It means everything to me. This is somebody I have looked up to my whole life.
Somebody who I became a fan of combat sports, just from watching Roy Jones Jr.
"In Pensacola we didn’t have the Blue Wahoos, UWF football, the Ice Flyers. We grew up and we had Roy Jones Jr. To become friends with him, business partners with him and now having his last fight, it's incredible to me."

He actually says that it will be his last fight in Pensacola, but not that it's his last fight ever...

Mark it down.
Jones is a lifer. He'll still be fighting when he's 50.
Of course, that's only a little more than a year away.

Maybe right now he's focusing again on that "promising" rap career.

Just 15 years after his prime ended.
