No Big Fights on the Schedule Yet!!!!!....WHAT'S GOING ON???????????

Post by caldo2025 »

Yes, i'm hitting the panic button. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON RIGHT NOW? By this time last year, we had some fantastic fights on the docket. Thurman/Garcia was already scheduled by this time along with GGG/Jacobs, Frampton/Cruz II, Degale/Jack, Vargas/Berchelt, Haye/Bellew, Roman/Rungvisai etc. Again, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?

I was naive to think that Boxing would continue to build on it's 2017 great success. It's back to the same old...same old Cherry picking fights. So far we have Spence Jr/Peterson, Usyk/Briedis, Groves/Eubank Jr, Bivol/Barrera and Rungvisai/Estrada. Compared to 2017's start, that's garbage.

Am I being too negative here or do you think that we'll start seeing some big fights announced for March? The boxing schedule for 2018 is depressing.

Sor Rungvisai vs Estrada is garbage????

Most fans would view it as potential FOY material.

Bring on more garbage like Sor Rungvisai/Estrada.

Calm down son. There's no need to sensationalise things.

2018 will be a decent year for boxing, but it might be a tad optimistic to expect it to be as good as 2017.

Wilder vs Ortiz
Thurman vs Jessie Vargas
Errol Spence vs Lamont Peterson
Estrada vs Sor Rungvisai

Some solid matchups already announced, and there'll be better to come.

Groves vs Eubank Jr great
Bivol vs Barrera could be great but at the very least good
Wangek vs Estrada great
Mikey vs Lipinets terrible unnecessary
Spence vs Peterson good fun, action packed

Not that bad.

I rarely agree with you, but it's impossible for me to undermine the potential quality of those bouts. :TU:

Do you really think Wilder will fight him :s?
It's not scheduled right now, probably because Wilder would probably fail a test right now, and on top of that, Wilder would most likely lose this one in a fair fight. Wilder never accepts fights he knows he can't win unless he will get a massive 10m+ payday. He didn't even dare to fight the much worser Dillian Whyte for 5 mil, so why the much better Luis Ortiz for 2 mil? Wilder knows something that can help him out of this fight, probably with help of that same lab that recently got suspended for a while, THE previous reason he couldn't sign anything.

Wilder signed to fight Povetkin in Russia and then Ortiz. Not his fault if they caused the fight to be called off.

The current schedule compared to 2017's at this point is "garbage" though i'm really looking forward to this particular fight. In comparison to what we had to look forward to at this point last year, 2018 pales in comparison clearly, no matter how great this fight could be.

Yes it is, I'll fully admit that, or well, at least if it happens in a fair way, no bullshit stop the match actions, or unfair point deductions.

He only signed it knowing those fights would never happen, in reality he was celebrating holiday against Povetkin and fighting Bum Stiverne exactly as they planned.

Good list. Add the conclusion of the WBSS cruiser and the final of super middle
Frampton Donaire
Parker AJ

We have had worse starts to the year than that. I don't expect anyone to be salivating about Kov's next fight but the under card should shape up decent too

Gvozdyk vs Alvarez has been sanctioned by the WBC, and will likely be shown on either ESPN or Showtime.
