STILL BE CHAMPION IN A YEAR

Post by BIGDOUG58 »

After having a look through the ratings I could only find 7 Current Champions who can still be Champions of their Division on December 31 2018.
Given that Anthony Joshua will have to face Wilder, Parker or Ortiz this year he should win but not 100% . I have put him in as one of the seven . So here is my list. would love to hear what others think.
HW..Anthony Joshua
LM.. Jemell Charlo
JL.. Vasyl Lomachenko
Feather.. Gary Russell Jnr.
Bntm.. Ryan Bennett
Spr. Fly.. Naomi Inoue
Fly.. Diego Higa.

What’s your criteria for determining a “champion”? Are we simply discussing world title holders?

For instance: someone like Erislandy Lara only competes twice per year at most and he is obliged to engage in a mandatory defence of his WBA title against Brian Castano during his next outing, with the other challengers included in the WBA's rankings being fairly mediocre.

That was literally the first fighter that sprung to mind, but I’m fairly confident that I could name plenty of others that “can still be Champions of their Division on December 31 2018”.

There are loads of guys who can stil be champion. Some fight once a year. 2 at most and likely voluntary.

I'm happy to say Adonis may not!

Just to be still holding the title they currently hold.
Whether they fight once or 6 times.
Don't matter.
Some guys may move up a division then their title is gone.
The only criteria is still holding on to what they have got.
