If it goes to the cards, all Canelo will have to do for the win is convince one judge. History has proven this over and over in his fights. The 118-110 score in his favor in their first fight is an example.

Please quantify your accusation about the so-called "History has proven this over and over in his fights"? :-?

I bet you can't! :OhYes:

EO, you are a complete idiot if you need any additional proof. Just look at some of Canelo's cards against Trout, Mayweather, Lara and Golovkin.

Eh, I'm thinking he's soon to lose and go into that spiral. I don't think Canelo will be the one to hand him his first defeat, though. There is nothing Canelo can do better in the rematch. He can't get a better gas tank. He's been having those issues since 154, and he hasn't improved his stamina like people were saying. To me, it's been obvious, but I was surprised that people thought he'd get a gas tank just by not draining for 154.

It GGG puts his foot on the gas a bit more, he'll get hit with a few more counters, but canelo will fold physically.

It seemed logical his stamina issues were from weight cutting. They are probably more psychological than anything. He just doesn't like being forced to fight at a lick.

caldo2025 wrote: 30 Dec 2017, 18:34 I’m as tired as GGG must be at this point with these types of posts or criticisms. GGG’s last 3 fights were tougher than any other boxer’s resume. I challenge you to find a fighter that has come remotely close to fighting the quality that GGG has.

He defeated a huge Jacobs on his home turf while being outweighed by at least 20 pounds on fight night. He won. He faced an undefeated Brook who again outweighed him and he broke Brooks face before half the fight was over. Then he capped it off by beating a running for his life Canelo on everyone’s scorecard. We all knew he needed a KO to get the win that night.

GGG hasn’t slipped at all. His level of opposition was top quality and bc he didn’t knock them all out, he’s slipping. There’s a reason why KO ratios slip with the top fighters like Floyd and Manny. It’s bc of the level of opposition. Floyd and Many could have continued knocking everyone out had they not fought the top talents. GGG HASN’T SLIPPED. HE’S JUST FIGHTING BETTER QUALITY. Jacobs barely finished the fight on his feet and Canelo ran the whole night. If Canelo stands his ground in May, he will be the next ko victim. GGG is the same GOAT at MW.
don't know what ggg-jacobs fight you were watching...on the night of the fight, i was watching live on tv and most of the posters online had jacobs winning...by a pretty convincing margin. i rewatched the fight recently and had it a very clear win for jacobs....when you say jacobs barely finished the fight on his feet, i don't know what you're talking about...jacobs looked very comfortable slapping ggg around the ring in the last 2 rounds....as for the size difference, how come ggg fans get to complain about fighters cutting weight?...if so, i can give you a ton of examples of fighters coming in way over the weight limit on fight night and you'd defend them to the end....

secondly, brook might have been heavier, but no question he was two weight classes smaller...and things happen in boxing. it wasn't like ggg outboxed or outfought brook...he landed one good shot in the first round that broke kells eyesocket...that's why kell gave up. other than that, he was handling ggg with ease.

no question the level of ggg's competition has gone up. i don't think he's really showed signs of slippage either....my point was that at 36, he's not gonna get faster or stronger...and given his performances in his last 3 fights, he's clearly not the best at mw...he's in the mix among the top at that weight class...but if canelo could give him that kind of trouble, imagine what andrade would do.
I've been doing this long enough to know when someone has an agenda. You aren't a GGG fan and that's obvious. And that's ok. You are also obviously not a very knowledgeable boxing fan and that's ok too because you can learn. Anyone that knows anything about boxing scored the fight clearly for GGG.

The GGG/Jacobs weight difference that night was far different than what you are referring to. Jacobs strategically decided to not fight for the IBF Belt the day of the fight and hence was not required to make weight the day of the fight. GGG still had to or else he would have had to forfeit the belt. That's WAY difference than a guy that just gains 25 pounds over night because both guys have the same opportunity to add fluids and get them as heavy as possible. In this fight, only one guy had to make weight the day of the fight while the other could gouge himself with food and liquids. That's an unfair advantage. Again, you probably didn't know this because I'm assuming that if you do not know how to score a fight then you don't care much about the intricacies regarding the details of the fights.

I'm not mad about it. I thought that it was a genius move by Jacobs but it does scream of desperation to pull something like that off in a big fight like this. In fact, the IBF has since changed it's rules regarding the second weight in as a result so if that isn't obvious that the weight clause made a huge difference in this one, then I'd prefer not to have a discourse with someone that doesn't appreciate facts as they relate to results. No Offense.
You're drawing the same old tired excuses for ggg and why jacobs beat his ass....the only one with an agenda here is you....trying to exalt ggg at the expense of other fighters. The fact is, they BOTH weighed in below the mw limit the day before the fight as is customary in all boxing matches since i can remember. so, how the ibf decides arbitrarily to have a second day weigh in for SOME fights and not for others is a complete mystery to me. i mean, if you're gonna weigh them in a second time, why not do ONE weigh in the day of as per policy? it's a confusing bs policy that messes with a fighters prep...but how come you don't have the same complaint about canelo- ggg?...canelo could have been 175 on fight night...he certainly looked beefy enough.

LOL at Jacobs beating GGG. Danny's biggest achievement was to not get smashed, but he didn't come close to winning.

Posters who had him winning are just from the same #DUMMYGRAPHIC as you.

i had jacobs winning 114-113 though it couldve gone either way. he did as good as he could vs canelo and still couldnt win and will be older for a rematch. charlo beats ggg too and maybe saunders does it too and dj in a rematch with older ggg. the mans simply never close to as good as hyped.

I'm sorry but I don't think you get the IBF's second weigh-in premise. It was the IBF's goal to keep the fighters around the same weight inside the ring. To be eligible to win/retain the IBF belt, GGG & Jacobs had to first make 160lbs on Friday and then 170 pounds the day of the fight. The IBF gave a 10 pound allowance on the day of the fight. So GGG was forced to be under 170 the day of the fight or he'd lose the belt on the scale. Jacobs allowed the IBF sanctioning fee and pretended as if he was going to make the second weight in to be eligible to win the IBF belt but he never had any intention of it. He clearly wanted the weight advantage instead and paid for it. Smart but pathetic.

first, maybe jacobs knew or didn't know what the policy was....maybe winning the title wasn't as important to him as winning the fight, which is what he did.

and, yes, i understand the purpose of the second weigh-in. what i'm questioning is the logic...if you want the fighters to be 170 on the day of the fight, then simply make 170 the weight limit!....it makes no sense otherwise.

canelo, victor ortiz and cotto for example would gain like 15, 20 lbs by fight time...nobody every had a problem with it so long as they met weight at the scheduled date. if the commission doesn't want fighters to gain too much weight before the fight, they should just go back to same-day weigh-ins. that way only natural mw's fight at 160...

my point is, your argument is hypocritical garbage.... ggg is not a natural mw either....he's a natural smw who cuts weight. i doubt kassim ouma weighed more than ggg on fight night, but you don't have a problem with that.... jacobs is also not a natural mw, but so long as you're letting guys who aint natural mw fight at that weight class as long as they can cut weight to make 160, there should be no complaints about jacobs gaining weight after the weigh in.

yeah, he claimed he got hit on purpose against brook...which i thought was complete bs. it was clear brook had his number and if it hadn't been for the injury would have likely taken ggg the distance and possibly got the decision....and the fact is, ggg's comp prior to brook was extremely mediocre. his performances suffered when he moved up in competition...tbh, aside from a canelo fight, i think he'll try like hell to avoid any kind of top level competition this year because he knows he'll be destroyed or soundly beaten.

..as long as on a fight night we have two boxers belonging to 2 different weight categories, one of them being taller, younger, having a longer reach and last but not least fighting out of his backyard (and we know what that means these days, do we not?) and STILL losing in a close fight, I see no point in criticising Golovkin for having edged the win..in fact, he did a great job considering the odds..

The next time Gennady Golovkin steps foot inside the ring, for the Canelo rematch, he’ll be 36 years of age.

He’ll then have to perform mandatory defences of his titles (assuming he beats Alvarez) against Sergiy Derevyanchenko (IBF) and Jermall Charlo (WBC), which are better opponents than anyone GGG has faced prior to 2016.

In addition to Canelo, HBO also has Demetrius Andrade and Daniel Jacobs included amongst their stable of fighters. And I feel that both of these men are capable of posing a serious threat to a 36 year old version of GGG.

We’ve also seen Billy Joe Saunders raise his game and his awkward style could pose serious problems to an aging version of GGG. So the sooner Gennady gets a shot at the WBO title, the better, because I’m not sure if the majority of the people that frequent this forum wouldn’t give the Brit a good chance at dethroning Golovkin if they fight in 2019 or later.

Gennady Golovkin has repeatedly articulated his desire to continue competing until he is forty years of age, but if he insists on doing this, then he may have to suffer one or two losses along the way, because I feel that 2018 will be his final year of being considered a truly pound-for-pound fighter.

Ggg will stay on top for a while yet. Effective aggressiveness is the name of the game and despite some boxers such as canelo and book appearing busier than ggg rarely are they effective. I think if ggg does turn up the work rate against canelo he can stop him. Canelos counter punchers didn't bother ggg the first fight and won't in the second.
