WHO WINS? Leo Santa Cruz vs. Guillermo Rigondeaux

Post by wesshaw1985 »

"We will definitely go back to super bantamweight, where they say can say what they want to say, but Rigondeaux is the best in the world," said Bornote,to George Ebro. "We would only fight in 126 with a major opponent, a Santa Cruz or a Mares. ''

who wins?

Rigo probably beats anyone not named Lomachenko.

This is another inappropriate fight, because the size differential between Santa Cruz and Rigondeaux is similar to the handicap the Cuban had to endure when he fought Lomachenko.

Guillermo Rigondeaux could be 38 years of age the next time he steps foot inside the ring, so he’s already well past his sell-by-date for someone who’s natural habitat is competing at 122lbs.

For sure, the Cuban is capable of out-boxing Santa Cruz, but father time may have already caught up with him, coupled with the mental scars he suffered during his stoppage defeat against Lomachenko, which may have permanently diminished Guillermo’s ability to compete.

At this point in time, I’d strongly favour Leo Santa Cruz to emerge victorious in this fight, but it’s not beyond the realms of possibility for Rigondeaux to turn back the clock for one last time to score the upset.

Is this fight a possibility?

If so, it will be a cracker. Definitely one to watch.

No one knows how age and the spectre of his defeat to Lomachenko will play on Rigo.

This fight was actually discussed about 3 years ago at 122, but it appeared that LSC father had little interest.

At that point I figured the quicker, more multi dimensional Rigo would simply frustrate and outslick Santa Cruz.

Maybe Leo's father did too.

But now at 126, we can't be sure what Rigo would bring to the table.

Maybe Santa Cruz simply outhustles a somewhat worn Rigo.

- Sweet that Rigo still has some never say die hard fans after stinking up his entire career these past few years.

Rigo by any other name is still stink. There's gene somewhere that explains this unnatural phenomenon of stink being savory, usually to be found to those predisposed to hang out in bathrooms next to the stalls and the like to savor the results.

What a waste of a thread. Anyone who knows anything about boxing knows this fight is never happening.
