Spence vs Peterson

Post by stujones »

I'm surprised this hasn't been picked up (yet) by Sky or someone, especially with Khan back on board at the weight. I am stunned at the odds for Peterson - 10/1, Spence is a 1/25 favourite. Much bigger odds on Peterson as there was for Connor McGregor, Jeff Horn (vs Crawford) and its about the same as Rabencho vs Brook. Many people (including me) thought he beat Garcia. Yes, Spence is undoutedly the favourite - but those odds are quite tasty on Peterson.

Another fun match up at the weight in February is Ortiz vs Alexander - Ortiz is always fun to watch. I hope that gets picked up also.

Next weekend. 20th.

Undercard isn't terrible either. I was off work but picked up a day. Was looking forward to this one. His brother Anthony is on the card & he still only has that one loss to Brandon Rios in what was a very weird fight. Been very mismanaged. Either by himself or someone else.

I am a big big fan of Spence and I am not saying for one minute I think Peterson, a solid world class fighter, will win - BUT, not sure how Spence can go from pretty much even money in his last fight to a 10/1 favourite against a fighter like Peterson.

I like to see Spence have one or two fights in proper world class before making him such a huge favourite vs someone like Peterson. Yes, I was expecting 5 maybe 6/1 - but 10/1 on - is huge. Its taken Terrence Crawford 8/9 title fights to earn himself such a big favourite tag against a similar level opponent. He wouldn't have been 10/1 to beat Diaz in his next fight after Burns.

10/1 seems about right to me. Peterson is fringe world level, Spence is not far from elite.
