Re: that first L is coming for ggg
I assume you mean the Jacobs fight? It was close and could fairly be scored either way, but the majority had GGG winning. He beat Canelo pretty clearly and was robbed.
Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
Yeah I think you can technically say that since there were two posters saying so. Although the other admits to be biased for Canelo and too drunk to really telljamamb wrote: ↑12 Jan 2018, 01:08 posters in the brit section think the draw was fair

just saying that not everyone thinks a draw was a robbery. ggg started slow and didnt end all that well

Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
imo you could make a reasonable case for a draw. look at rounds 1-4 and 10-12
Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
but either way, ggg will just be older and he couldnt win the first time. his works certainly very cut out for him, vs an opponent who can smile off his shots, make him miss, and hit him flush
Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
I agree, Canelos works certainly very cut out for him vs an opponent who can smile off his best flush shots and who got backed upped by the opponents jab.
Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
canelos got more tools to rely on if he doesnt hurt his opponent. almost all the best shots in that fight were landed by canelo and ggg could barely catch him clean. it was just a lot of grazing jabs.
canelo won the exchanges too and closed stronger, so he mightve figured ggg out. he just needs a tad extra/more consistent work rate to make it clear. ggg may have slide more too

Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
So ggg landed only grazing shots. They weren’t gggs best nor did he go for the body. He took Canelos best but didn’t land his best and backed him up, outworked him and arguably won the fight. That’s the story of the first fight. A 35 v a 28 year old with more pro experience. It’s still an interesting fight. Outcome is a question mark. Who’s can make adjustments, farther time. Good fight again. Maybe you can’t see it. Maybe you don’t understand ggg fighting style. He sacrifices defence for pressure.
Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
i sure know he sacrifices defense, which is why i call him 'face defense'
canelo landed the best shots and had ggg mostly hitting air or gloves. ggg did get through with some, yes, and he may have slightly landed more, but mostly glancing and mostly jabs. i think canelo has more gifts and will need to punch just a tad more to make it a clear win and not a draw. i think he can certainly improve on his showing but im less confident that aging ggg can do the same
by the end it was canelo getting the better. he mayve figured ggg out, just like ward did to kov

Honestly I’m not that confident although I did watch the first fight objectively. You on other hand are clearly biased.jamamb wrote: ↑12 Jan 2018, 06:52 i sure know he sacrifices defense, which is why i call him 'face defense'

Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
im very confident though im exagerrating by suggesting its a sure thing. its not. the first fight was very close. but i think ggg did his best and it wasnt enough. i think canelo has more potential to improve and i think he will do that and will win this time
Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
He may. Gonna be the biggest fight of the year. I’m hoping it’s the best. Better than the last.

Truth was never spoken more succinctly.
Canelo picks up where he left off in September. Beating Golovkin to the punch, landing the cleaner, heavier shots and leaving absolutely no doubt this time around.
This time, Golovkin's supposed overrated aggressiveness won't masquerade the fact that Canelo is by far the superior technical fighter.

If wear and tear hasn't taken much toll on GGG, he will beat Canelo even more convincingly this time. All he needs is to not let Canelo off the hook in the middle rounds.

Look forward to it, so many 'ifs'.
If Canelo can improve his stamina he wins.
On the other hand if GGG starts quicker than last time and cuts off the ring better Canelo could be put to sleep.
If Canelo runs and runs then its up to the judges again. Interesting to see who'll get the gig this time.
And who will the fans support this time?
Time will tell.

Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
I just hope it's more of an action fight this time, and Canelo doesn't shell up as much. It was exciting when they'd exchange, and Canelo actually often got the better of the exchanges, but he was on the defensive quite a bit.
I just hope the 2nd fight is more definitive.

Re: that first L is coming for ggg: canelo rematch almost done
I assume you mean 1-3 and 10-12 - GGG won the 4th round very clearly. Canelo clearly won the 2nd and 12th and rounds 1, 3, 10 and 11 could be given to either fighter, so yes, a draw is possible if you prefer Canelo's fighting style and give him every close round. I just think the official result is fishy because of the ridiculous 118-110 scorecard and the fact that the judge who scored it a draw gave one very clear GGG round to Canelo.
