Yeah someone else pointed this out. I had no idea. It’s a weird bill in Cannes. http://boxrec.com/en/event/768 I was young and remember the press ripped into the fight. They called Gardner a fat blueberry 😂🤣

He could never be accused of ducking anyone, that’s for sure. He also faced Tim Austin for the IBF bantam title. That was extremely one sided and painful to watch too.

Yeah. He wasn’t regarded as a premium champion then. He was vastly underestimated

I'd forgot about that one, rumour has it McCrory was on the pop the night before the fight, not that it would have made a difference anyway.

I remember reading some interview with Glenn and he said he did not give a shit about the fight and knew he would lose it, just did it purely for the money

I've told the story on Glen before when he got barred from my local RL club. That lad likes a swill.

I read that he got the fight when he got tanked up at some do and went over to Lennox and said he was going to beat him up.

Haye v De Mori is a good call.

Think I watched that one and can recall the monumental and cynical over-inflation of De Mori's ability and the 'significance' of the fight by the broadcaster and a feck load of hype thrown-in by Haye's PR folk with a DJ playing, celeb cheerleaders at ringside and a total blast-out presented as a classic HW bust-up and an 'event.'

A bang-in-form Nigel Benn smacking the 22-8-2 Lou Gent about in a WBC title defence was also grubby. Gent was not that much higher than a good Area/British title challenger and had been operating at a far higher weight.

Gutsy fella was Lou and he did not disgrace himself.....but it was always a beating in the making.

Herol Graham against Johnny Melfah is one that comes to my mind. I was never a fan of Bomber's style but he outclassed Melfah with embarrassing ease.

Anyone mentioned erratic stoner Jose Luis Lopez absolutely destroying Loughran?

I remember speaking to Mr Power (remember him?) about it, he said that they had to keep him under wraps at the gym as he was just looking sensational but he was definitely still an unknown quantity and he breezed past Loughran with ease.
