Re: Prince Patel
I know his ex trainer. Apparently his plan is to build up and nice looking winning record then jump to the front of the queue for a lucrative title fight.

Gosh. Around half of the guys boxing are wearing trainers.
I was surprised to see Patel wearing plain black shorts.
What was the green belt he also picked up?

His pelvic thrust after he knocked the other lad down - what a first class prat.

Re: Prince Patel
This is how the Eastern European journeyman scene works.
There are little more than gym fights, the winners come over here with relatively good records and getting beat here, then go back, pick up some wins and it's back to Britain again.
While I appreciate it's tough to get away wins in boxing these guys are given wins at home so they can be lambs to the slaughter on foreign fields.

Listed as a bantamweight on boxrec - thought he'd stay at superfly.
Pretty stacked division to move into, as much as he seems a tool - wouldn't have taken much to move up the the rankings at superfly, bantamweight way too stacked.

I pretty much go with that. this is why I hate to see Eastern European's brought over here and take away potential wages from British lads. People tend to look at the record these days as it inflates ego. Also im sure bringing fodder to this country must be minimum wage too. I emailed Robert Smith sometime ago regarding an Eastern European brought over here to box a British debutant. The Bulgarian had 1 win and about 5 or 6 losses so could not see what he had 'special' that a British boxer didnt have. Mr Smith did email me back saying he was frustrated about this also, but it still goes on.Coco wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 08:11This is how the Eastern European journeyman scene works.

A few weeks ago I was looking at a boxers record - I noticed a boxer who was shocking had half a dozen wins and wondered who he had beat.Coco wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 08:11This is how the Eastern European journeyman scene works.

I then found that the people he beat all retired with say 5-0 or 10-0 records - all were in these gym fights.
Basically they must get a doorman or keep fitter and say look just have half a dozen spars, we will give you a few quid and then retire - thereby giving certain boxers a much needed win to get them work in the UK.
Honestly, it was weird as the same names kept cropping up and they were all fights at the same gym!

This chap is a prime example of the “boxers” used to pad the records of the journeymen who are imported to appear in fights in this country.

Re: Prince Patel
Dont agree with this, they aint taking work away from any journeyman, the simple fact is that there aren't enough journeymen to go around and most of them are booked up months in advance. Thats why matchmakers/promoters have to bring these guys in. It isnt cheaper to bring these lads in either, its more expensive.mimmy123 wrote: ↑15 Jan 2018, 08:19I pretty much go with that. this is why I hate to see Eastern European's brought over here and take away potential wages from British lads.
