Do British Fight Fans Talk Too Much ?
I saw a piece where GGG said we go over the top and I've seen a number of other individuals within the sport say we are too obsessed.
Is that right ?

Can you please supply a link to the article containing the interview transcript, because he has previously only ever said good things about the Brits, even though his English is severely limited to the point he doesn’t always provide an answer that relates to the question he was asked? So his words might be out-of-context.

Whether GGG said it or not. It's true!
It's a good and bad thing. We'll always support our own.
USA is too big. American boxers are only big in a few states, mostly close to home or where they're based..

Re: Do British Fight Fans Talk Too Much ?
for me its more like do usa and brit fans have more sense of entitlement than most when it comes to getting fights at home and getting rematches of close fights lost.

I don't know about talking too much, but they certainly sing and chant a lot during big fights.
Re: Do British Fight Fans Talk Too Much ?
I love the Brit fans and think that they are GREAT for the sport. If that AJ/Wlad fight was in Madison Square Garden or Vegas then the fight wouldn't have been so electric. The fans that night and their performance had just as much to do with this epic than the two fighters inside the ring. My dream is to someday cross the pond and witness a huge fight.

Re: Do British Fight Fans Talk Too Much ?
I think the sense of entitlement comes from the fact that boxing is a popular sport in the UK and to a lesser extent in the US also. So the biggest paydays can be earned in those territories and the fight fans in those countries know this, which results in raising their expectations accordingly.
Re: Do British Fight Fans Talk Too Much ?
Crazy that. I spend my money travelling to your side to see big fights haha. Hate going to fights over here it's just pissed up idiots who nine tens out of ten have never heard of the opponentcaldo2025 wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 08:01 I love the Brit fans and think that they are GREAT for the sport. Re: Do British Fight Fans Talk Too Much ?
Brits are very enthusiastic about their fighters and prospects, especially their prospects. I was surprised at some Brits upping the very average Liam Walsh like he had a chance against Davis.

Take a look around the scene you'll find it.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Jan 2018, 06:31Can you please supply a link to the article containing the interview transcript, because he has previously only ever said good things about the Brits, even though his English is severely limited to the point he doesn’t always provide an answer that relates to the question he was asked? Regardless it doesn't really matter I wasn't offended whatsoever, it's true and even though he didn't say it with what I considered to an attacking tone I actually came away from it feeling pretty good about myself.

The only thing I can find is a video from the 'Behind The Gloves' YouTube channel where Michelle Joy Phelps interviews Gennady Golovkin and he mentions UK fighters and others like Canelo doing “too much trash talking.”Evander wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 23:55Take a look around the scene you'll find it.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Jan 2018, 06:31Can you please supply a link to the article containing the interview transcript, because he has previously only ever said good things about the Brits, even though his English is severely limited to the point he doesn’t always provide an answer that relates to the question he was asked? Regardless it doesn't really matter I wasn't offended whatsoever, it's true and even though he didn't say it with what I considered to an attacking tone I actually came away from it feeling pretty good about myself.
For example:
"Last year was boring. Too much talking, too much trash talking, you know?"
"Like everybody, from the UK people, you know? From Canelo, he gave me my belt, you know. Too much trash talking! [And] Billy Joe, of course yes. Saunders, Eubank [Jr.], Froch... Oh! Too much!"
When Golovkin referred to “UK people”, he was specifically referring to UK fighters not British fight fans.
Here's the video containing the above interview transcript:
And if you don't believe me, watch the entirety of the interview, not just the snippet I supplied to educate yourself on the true context of Golovkin's words.
So if you can’t provide any evidence of Golovkin criticising UK fans where he categorically states that “British fans talk too much”, then you’ve intentionally misrepresented GGG’s words, which is basically lying.
Therefore, I would prefer that you provide some sort of third-party link that justifies the allegation you’ve made in this thread.
For the record, I’m not accusing you of being a liar, but if you’re unable to substantiate your claims then you must have lied, which makes this thread redundant. I’ve never seen GGG criticise British fight fans.
What’s it to be? Can you “Talk the Talk and Walk the Walk”?
Re: Do British Fight Fans Talk Too Much ?
Truth. He's 100% referring to the UK Boxers and not fans.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑11 Jan 2018, 04:56The only thing I can find is a video from the 'Behind The Gloves' YouTube channel where Michelle Joy Phelps interviews Gennady Golovkin and he mentions UK fighters and others like Canelo doing “too much trash talking.”Evander wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 23:55Take a look around the scene you'll find it.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Jan 2018, 06:31

Walk the walk ... ok 40 seconds in listen to him it's not a hard sell.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑11 Jan 2018, 04:56The only thing I can find is a video from the 'Behind The Gloves' YouTube channel where Michelle Joy Phelps interviews Gennady Golovkin and he mentions UK fighters and others like Canelo doing “too much trash talking.”Evander wrote: ↑10 Jan 2018, 23:55Take a look around the scene you'll find it.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑09 Jan 2018, 06:31

Re: Do British Fight Fans Talk Too Much ?
Gennady Golovkin and no other high-profile boxer have ever claimed that British fight fans “go over the top” and “are too obsessed”.
By your very own admission, you cannot support your own claim with any evidence whatsoever, because it has never been cited by any high-profile fighters.
What you’ve just claimed has never been said, because it never happened, hence the reason why you can’t prove it.
