Errol Spence v Lamont Peterson British TV

Post by scrap iron »

Is anyone else surprised British TV haven't picked this up yet? Errol Spence is already ranked the ninth best pound for pound fighter in the world by Ring Magazine and is well known to the British public after winning the IBF welterweight title at Bramall Lane in front of 36,000 fans. Lamont Peterson is another well known name in the UK due to his controversial win over Amir Khan a few years back and arguably produced his best performance in his last fight when he won the WBA welterweight against David Avanesyan. It's a decent match up.

Why have Sky Sports or allegedly not picked this one up? I'd rather watch these two welterweight take on each other then having to endure watching British welterweights Bradley Skeete or Amir Khan take on hand picked opponents.

Surely BN will pick this up late? Otherwise, wtf are we paying subs for?

Do you think Errol stops him early Hands?

I think this might be a 3-4 round fight.

Yeah I think Spence will KO Peterson, maybe around the halfway stage mate, I find Peterson quite boring TBH but love watching Spence and he should look great dealing with Peterson

Sky Sports should really be the ones to pick this up.

Why? I expect Sky to pick up odd bits here and there but not everything. That's what BN should be for really given it's a dedicated channel.

Bocksnation tweeted earlier that their announcing a big world title fight for the schedule today so fingers crossed, although if it is then you'd have thought they'd say 2 world title fights??

To be pedantic, he would be known to British boxing fans, not the British public. I doubt even Kell is known to the public.

Well done allegedly 👍. Next Copperbox show is dissapointing but the international stuff they’ve given us access to over the last five years has been excellent. Ten years ago you’d have been ordering DVDs out of the back of Boxing Monthly to get this stuff. Mind you ten years ago I could still make 178.6lbs!!

Well chuffed this has been picked up, solid card to start the year off, I'm not really sure what Peterson can bring to the table against someone as good as Spence, Peterson has the experience but apart from when he beat Khan he has lost when stepping up, I thought Garcia beat him clearly despite some having it close, he's coming off a solid win over Avenesyan which is a positive coming in

Spence Jr is quality though, the way he dominated a great fighter in Brook was very impressive and I think a guy with Peterson's style and at the stage of career Lamont's is made for Spence right now for this 1st defence back home

I doubt Spence can(or will) stop Peterson as early as Matthysse did but I reckon he'll have him out of there by the 8th/9th mark

Peterson's a good figher, former 2 time world champ and been in with the top of the SLW/WW divisions but I find him a bit boring, this is all about Spence for me
