Tyson Fury should have Dom Ingle as his trainer

Post by TopGun »

Billy Joe has shown what he can achieve with him and the Ingle gym is perfect for his style. Dom could get the weight off too.

Its not too far away from Manchester.

Surely if he wont train with Peter he must be the best suited match for him?

Anybody disagree?

Ingle wouldn't take all the messing about and it wouldn't last long.

I disagree.

Saying it's not too far away from Manchester is a red herring given Tyson lives in Morecambe. Commuting to Bolton where his uncle is would've taken him about 50 mins each way, maybe a bit more. Very doable. Commuting to Sheffield would take him two hours minimum each way. Which means a relocate during camp. Not sure Sheffield is the right place for him in that regard.

It seems ridiculous that the legitimate, lineal heavyweight champion of the world can't improve his training structure based on the logistics of a commute between Morecambe and Sheffield.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with anything you say, but the above just sounds a bit pathetic. Think of where the likes of Lewis and Klitschko were born and ended up training.

I think Peter is the only one who can train Tyson.
On paper you could think of a lot of trainers that would theoretically be good for Fury, but..
No one else will ever be able to get inside Tyson's mind like Peter can. Or know him, control him, put up with him, motivate him like Peter. Tyson, for his part, will never have the same respect, deference and desire to please anyone else quite like he does Peter.
Tyson trained by anyone else would end up a Hatton/Mayweather Snr car-crash imo.

He's already trained in Ingles years ago. Nobody will handle Tyson if he's not in the mood. Even in the podcast with max from Eastenders the other day, he sounded down. The man is troubled. Dom would just kick him out of the gym. Too much water under the bridge with Peter. God knows what's gone on but John has been ominously quiet, too, for the last year.

He doesn't sound like a trainers dream, that's for sure.

It's clear he suffers from depression and motivation issues, it's not something a trainer can just fix.

I keep wondering if getting Davison in as trainer is just so Tyson can do what he feels like, Peter seems a strict disciplinarian and not the type to put up with antics in camp. If he really wants to fight again at the top level he needs an experienced trainer who knows him inside out and what makes him tick, I truly believe the only man who ticks all those boxes is Uncle Peter.

The idea isn't ridiculous nor logistically impossible.

It has been a stroke of genius getting BJS training under Dom ingle. However, I think Tyson's presence would affect BJS' focus and momentum. On a bad day I think Tyson would cause unnecessary disruption.

I heard he's not feeling great again at the minute. Struggling motivate himself to train. I don't think he should fight if he's not right mentally.

There's a recent interview knocking about on youtube where Tyson says there is no problem with him and Peter but he just felt he needed a change. i can't remember his exact words but he seemed to think that working with Peter on a day to day basis was getting too much of a grind and not much fun. I think the interview was done by Glenn McCrory for boxing social or something, about 15 minutes long.

Interesting. When is boxing training not a grind?

Really hope that’s the sum total of it as it’d be sad if there’s been a fall out.

Didn't Fury do that in Germany go defensive, that's one of the principles of Dominic Ingle he's been doing it since the Herol Graham days.
Great trainer and strategist no question about it.
A lot of the northerners up that way have been adopting aspects of his style for near on 20 years, it's effective but predictable.

:oo
Herol Graham, Johnny Nelson,Naseem Hamed, Ryan Rhodes and Junior Witter were hardly predictable.
