Robert Easter Jr vs Javier Fortuna
Easter Jr defends his IBF Lightweight title against Fortuna this weekend on the Spence card, I can see this being a good fight actually, Fortuna is a capable boxer, quick, sharp and punches with snap, he does put a lot of folk on the floor and has a great KO%, his only loss was to Sosa a couple years back, got stopped in the 11th of a fight I had him winning
I never seen Easter's last defence against Shafikov but I hear it was dominant, last time I seen Easter he won a lopsided decision against Luis Cruz, he had Cruz down in the last 3 rounds but couldn't get him out of there, he's got power but isn't getting the guys out of there since becoming world champ
I liked the look of Easter when I first seen him but getting slightly less impressed the more I see him, he's still dominating guys though but this is probably his toughest fight alongside Shafikov or Mendez, I think he beats Fortuna wide on the cards, i'd like to see him go for the KO though

Re: Robert Easter Jr vs Javier Fortuna
easter vs shafikov shouldve been scored like 7-5. some really awful judging ive seen in ohio last few years. jamontay clark vs ivan golub was a real bad robbery.

Easter Jr should win this, but he needs a impressive display.
Looked top drawer when he burst onto the world scene, then he had the corker against Commey. Been lacklustre since.
Got a feeling he might edge this in another dull one.

Fortuna fails to make weight, fight still going ahead but Easter Jr's title isn't on the line
2018 starting off in the same vein as the previous few years, seems like at least 1 major title fight a month a guy misses weight, ridiculous, isn't 17 divisions enough?

I'd say it's a clear indication that 24hr+ weigh-ins are perpetuating a situation where almost everyone is trying to drain 'too much' to get to whatever weight they need to make.handsofstone wrote: ↑20 Jan 2018, 09:49 Fortuna fails to make weight, fight still going ahead but Easter Jr's title isn't on the line

Re: Robert Easter Jr vs Javier Fortuna
I thought Fortuna just done enough to nick it, 114-113 on my card, I thought he landed the better punches throughout especially the straight left hand and he was the better fighter on the inside as well, thought the ref was a bit harsh with the point deduction in the 2nd for rabbit punching, the punches looked legit and it cost Fortuna a draw
Easter Jr looked pretty poor and ponderous, poor jab and he struggled to nail Fortuna clean, he picked up rounds when Fortuna's workrate dropped but I thought Fortuna closed the show well, his flurries worked well against the upright Easter

Re: Robert Easter Jr vs Javier Fortuna
I had Easter winning. 115-112.
If Easter is having problems against Fortuna then he will struggle against the elite.
If I was Hearn I’d through money at Easter to get him over here. I see Campbell beating him.

Re: Robert Easter Jr vs Javier Fortuna
thought fortuna won close but clear tbh
Re: Robert Easter Jr vs Javier Fortuna
campbell might beat him, heck, comney and fortuna arguably already did, but i think a lot of ppl have gone back to thinking campbells better than he is.hes almost 31 but has never really never won and looked good vs anyone of note.PredatorHayds wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 07:32 I had Easter winning. 115-112.

he just has a technically good looking style that flatters him vs òvermatched opponents, but i havent seen him take it up the levels

I see a good level technician who has good fundamentals will outpoint Easter.jamamb wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 07:36campbell might beat him but i think a lot of ppl have gone back to thinking campbells better than he is.hes almost 31 but has never really never won and looked good vs anyone of note.PredatorHayds wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 07:32 I had Easter winning. 115-112.

I don’t think Campbell is over-rated I just think the overall top 10 at Lightweight is weak which means his current ranking far outweighed his actual professional achievement.
Re: Robert Easter Jr vs Javier Fortuna
Thought Fortuna handled him easily. I didn't see it as close enough to shrug it off as a "I can see the other POV".
Re: Robert Easter Jr vs Javier Fortuna
I had Fortuna winning by a couple points with the deduction which was ridiculous.
Re: Robert Easter Jr vs Javier Fortuna
Yeah, I don't see Easter doing as well in the ring with Linares as Campbell did. Easter just isn't that good. His height and reach have got him this far but I wouldn't class him as elite.PredatorHayds wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 07:40I see a good level technician who has good fundamentals will outpoint Easter.jamamb wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 07:36campbell might beat him but i think a lot of ppl have gone back to thinking campbells better than he is.hes almost 31 but has never really never won and looked good vs anyone of note.PredatorHayds wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 07:32 I had Easter winning. 115-112.

Re: Robert Easter Jr vs Javier Fortuna
campbell lost 116-111 on my card, ppl want him to be better than he is. i dont doubt that easter for all his limitations could win rounds vs jorge, lots of fighters have. camp vs easter would be good.
