Anthony Yarde believes he is within touching distance of a world title

Post by Ringnews24 »

“My first goal is to become world champion. Everything that happens going towards that stage is just a progression to get to that world title"

My interview with Yarde. Going to try get another article up this week about about Buglioni. Yarde spoke a bit about fans saying he avoided Buglioni and why the fight hasn't happened.

Do you think Yarde will get a title shot in 2018 or too soon?

Still quite a strong division. There's no rush with Yarde. He needs stepped up gradually. He's had everything his own way so far. I like him though and he'll more than likely get there if managed correctly.

To be fair he did mention he has no plans to go after a world title in 2018 and although he's within grabbing distance he hasn't put a time scale in it.

In an awful domestic light heavyweight division he still hasn't fought a top 10 ranked British opponent.

What's all that about?

I don't think he will ever win a big 4 title. His technique is flawed and his punching power greatly over rated (particularly by him). I can't see him outpointing or stopping anybody in the LH Top 10 ever.

I am tired of watching him go up against import fighters who go in there already beaten (another one up coming next month). someone domestic up there would be nice. or someone in the top 20 world boxrec rankings.

Spot on... Surely one of the lads would jump at the chance of a good pay day. I know summers wud take the fight with full notice not 2 or 3 weeks.

Is Bob Ajisafe still boxing? If so he'd be a decent test

some international suggestions

karo murat
felix valera
edwin rodriguez
umar salamov
doudou ngumbu
dominic boesel
lionel thompson
shabransky (preferably win a win or two to distance the kov beating)

and of course domestic names like buglioni, burton, ajisafe.

although tbh im not really one to think the top domestic guys are better than most of those international names. buglionis always been hugely flawed and whats burtons best result, beating shinkwin?

but certainly more atmosphere to the top domestic fights and all these better than averlant. i mean was anyone really thinking yarde should fight him next?

He will likely get some form of 'world title' in 2018. He still has a long way to go to live upto all the hype yet, but has good potential.

I'd say the chances of that fight being made are very slim. Ajisafe has the potential to make a lot of fighters look poor, let alone someone with Yarde's level of inexperience.

Yes Ajisafe would be a tricky customer for anybody Yarde included.
