Povetkin vs Price on AJ vs Parker undercard?

Post by dagilechia »

i heard there are such rumours and Price already agreed on that fight, it could be a nice ko on him but cmon, these people dont have feels to match Price with someone decent again, especially someone as decent and hard punching as Povetkin is
if thats true then it means that AJ team dont want to avoid the Russian, if this fight comes true and Joshua wins, with Klitschko, Parker, Povetkin also undefeated Breazeale and solid Takam on his resume he leaves Wilder way behind him

Price has size and power, but his chin is awful as well as his stamina. Povetkin should win this fight by impressive KO

Oh dear.

This is a step up well beyond what he's already not managed at.

At least Price has a heads up on the PEDS for a change. Suprised that he is willing to fight him to be honest, from that point of view.

Interesting if true. Should be a round one KO for the Vityaz man.

If true, total crap fight. Why not Povetkin vs someone like Big Baby Miller? Pulev? Anyone with a chin, please.

Hearn wants to use his own fighter. Whyte would be a better choice.

Povetkin is the mandatory. If (when?) the Wilder fight falls through, it will be Joshua v Povetkin to end the year.

A good showing against chinny Price will drum up support.

They want a Brit as an opponent in England. Local flavor.

And Price poses absolutely no threat to Povetkin. Pulev and Miller do.

Why risk your mandatory shot against guys who can fight a little?

Despite my prediction of a first round KO by the Vityaz man, anyone with a punch like Price most definitely does pose a threat.

In case you forgot - Price vs Harrison Oct 2012:

Hearn wants Povetkin to look impressive against a fighter that is well known in UK. Povetkin demolishing 6'8'' David Price will look good at the Sky Sports promo videos for Joshua - Povetkin fight.

Price vs. Wilder would be a good fight. Two bombers with suspect jaws. Whoever lands first!

price would be absolutely terrified of wilder and be kod without throwing a punch. do ppl not get it with price? he can punch but is frozen by fear, stamina, and chin. hes been stopped everytime hes fought someone better than sam sexton or old audley.

watch his last fight with journeyman kamil sokolowski. hes body language is horrible when pressured by an opponent whose like 3-12 (1) and his face gets red.

vs povetkin, wilder, etc. would be a matchamking shameless slaughter. we already know price gets kod at even levels below top guys.

Yeah you're right. I just watched the Sokolowski-Price fight, fast forwarded through a lot of it. The usual BS decision from the BS judges. They didn't give a single round to Sok. who I thought could well have won that six round fight. He was definitely the aggressor throughout. Moving in like that is the way Povetkin will fight Price too, except Povetkin will KO him in round one. No, Price doesn't look like he did, or gave the illusion that he did, a few years ago when he was supposed to be The Next Big Thing.

Should be an easy win for Povetkin but Price has power and will tower over him so there is a slim chance of an upset although not enough to be considered much of a risk to Povetkin's mandatory status.

It will raise Sascha's profile in the UK and will get the attention of Joshua's casual fans when he destroys the big Scouser.

Quite a smart bit of matching it seems to me. Ticks all the boxes. Of course I'd far rather watch him in a meaningful fight against a pukka contender but you can't ignore the commercial realities. The meaningful fight will come against Joshua. assuming he gets past Parker.

Wilder would destroy him 3999 times out of 4000.

He's way faster, more fluid, much better jab probably a decent bit harder hitting, and has a great engine to Price's awful one. Price's chin isn't even that bad, if he had an Oliver McCall chin it wouldn't have saved him in most (all IIRC) of his losses.

Wilder may not be a Professor of the sweet science, but he's levels above Price.

So what?

It was dubbed "China (chin) comes to England."

The loser won the prestigious Amir Khan Award for boasting the softest heavyweight beard in the UK.

What Price (2012 version) could do to Audley has absolutely no bearing on what he'll accomplish against Povetkin.

He is no threat whatsoever. The main question is: Will Price last longer than Mike Perez?

And really. If you're convinced that Price folds during the first 3 minutes, then even you don't believe Price belongs in the ring with Povetkin.

You're responding to my earlier post which I already retracted after watching Price's last fight. See my 23:00 post yesterday.

Where exactly was it dubbed "china chin comes to england", since Price was undefeated at the time, and also since he didn't come to england he is english?

Price's handlers want shooting. They should sit back down and watch the Kamil Sokolowski fight. After they have watched it, watch it again. Then if still confident sit back down and watch the Tony Thompson fights. If still quite confident go and watch the Teper fight. Surely by now they will be realizing that this situation is not good!

If Price makes it through round one it will be an achievement in its self.

If I were Price's handler I'd teach him to just go out and throw bombs, because he can't box.

If Povetkin is guaranteed to fight the winner of Joshua-Parker (Joshua most likely), it's still a good idea to take Price fight on the AJ-Parker undercard. Price looks washed up and he obviously has a weak chin. If Povetkin fights him, he will most likely score a KO, maybe even very early. So, it's not a big risk for Povetkin and an opportunity to stay busy and not to rust.
