Heavyweights 2018

Post by Taansend »

So far things are looking good for the big boys in 2018.

Fights that have already been made include.....

January 20th - Adam Kownacki16(13)-0 v Iago Kiladze 26(18)-1(1)

February 17th - Charles Martin 25(23)-1(1)-1 v Joel Caudle 7(5)-1(1)-1 :OhYes:

March 3rd - Deontay Wilder 39(38)-0 v Luis Ortiz 28(24)-0

March 24th - Dillian Whyte 22(16)-1(1) v Lucas Browne 25(22)-0

March 31st - Anthony Joshua 20(20)-0 v Joe Parker 24(18)-0.

May 5th - Tony Bellew 29(10)-2(1)-1 v David Haye 28(26)-3(2)

We may also see Povetkin on the Joshua card as well as the continuing progress of Daniel Dubois, Tony Yoka, Joe Joyce & others.

I think Joshua Parker goes the distance in a closer than expected fight (8-4 AJ). I have no clue how Wilder Ortiz will go. I doubt if it goes past 5 rounds though. Bellew Haye only means something if Haye wins by crushing KO. A Bellew win probably means retirement for both. The winner of Whyte v Browne probably gets a shot at a WBA belt.

Hopefully Joshua & Wilder both win as that would be good for the sport in the US which means I get to talk boxing to people other than on here

Joe Joyce should be fighting every 8 weeks at this stage of his career. For all his talent, he's not being promoted very well IMO.

Same as Ordinary, Turned pro at an advanced age. Acknowledged that needed to be move quickly. Then moves at half the speed of younger fighters (I once sat and worked out his average days between fights in first 10 or so fights and compared to every world champion upto I think Tyson. I do not recall the figure but it was something like 24 day average, Audley 50)

Charles Martin Vs Joel Cuddle :maybe:
I didn't know about that one.
What the heck is Martin waiting for?
Two tomato cans in a row... How much of a boost does his confidence need after he lost his belt? I know the guy is not some all time great, but I would think he could be trying for guys in the #10-#25 range..

Watch out for Filip Hrgovic ....

I seriously rate him ... yes only had 1 fight but seen him spar a load of rounds with David Haye.

I think he will do well for himself

Ha! Yes, that is who we should be directing disdain towards.
Either that, or Charles's arm is not fully healed like he is telling folk it is.

He's just not that good but with a decent promoter he could earn another $2 or $3 million instead of fighting for 50k
