Currently most active boxer?
Who active has the most fights?
Anyone had more fights than this kid, William Warbuton
http://boxrec.com/en/boxer/491580
Also how does this lad get so many fights? What makes matchmakers look to this lad for work?

I think Strickland started it. I don't know why the UK is full of them, though I heard records like that will get you banned in some places.

That is good going that. Nice to see journeymen earning a living by not getting knocked out.maley1984 wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 16:51 Kev Macaulay has had 30 fights in last 12 months some going that

Re: Currently most active boxer?
I remember in boxing news in the mid to late 90s every 6 or 8 weeks they would print the British rankings for each weight division. There were far fewer fighters with records heavily in the red. Dean Bramhald, Seamus Casey and Peter Buckley I think we’re the only fighters who had losses in triple figures around that time. Other well known and travelled journeymen who were around at that time such as Miguel Matthews, Graham McGrath, Brian Coleman, Anthony Hanna etc had loads of losses but also picked up a fair number of wins.Taansend wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 18:41 I remember Dean Bramhald who was a journeyman back kin the 80's & 90's used the money to open nup hair dressing salons or something.

It seems these days it is more common for a boxer to turn pro with the sole intention of being a journeyman. Most win their first fight but then proceed to lose the next 40 or 50.
Do the BBBofC still monitor the performance of boxers? I seem to remember reading of boxers being hauled up before the area council and interviewed if they had a particularly long losing streak. If this is still the case those area meetings must be chock full of interviewees.

Brave as a lion. Always gave his best, often fighting bigger men. It's like a who's who of British boxing

Re: Currently most active boxer?
To be fair a lot of them could win more if they really went for it and got a fair deal from the judges, maybe if a young prospect disrespects them they just think "fcuk it, tonight I go off script"
Re: Currently most active boxer?
There seems to be much more small hall ticket sellers these days so opponents can get the work against fighters who aren't dangerous.
The Paul Bonsons of this world, especially if you look at Miguel Matthews, Buckley, Hanna, in fact a lot of Nobby's boys had their records littered with genuine champions.

Re: Currently most active boxer?
A quick scan of his record shows that all of his wins have come against fighters with winning records, which leads me to believe that he’s probably rather good...Mimmy wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 13:53 Who active has the most fights?

Re: Currently most active boxer?
Tony Booth was the best, although he won 50+ fights. He had the most wins in Britain whilst being a journeyman! He genuinely has never been knocked out, despite fighting at heavy and being a natural light middle. He's taken a knee or been overwhelmed, but never chinned. I asked him why he went to Belgium on Christmas Day, pissed, or Algeria, he just said "a rings a ring". Could really turn it on when he wanted to. Beat two close friends of mine, both with winning records, asked him why? "Me wife was at the first one and the second one was in Hull, you don't lose to a York lad in Hull in front of all of your mates"!. Funny guy.

A few decent scalps on there over guys with credible records (7-0-2, 23-4-2, 19-4-2 etc).Mimmy wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 13:53 Who active has the most fights?

Never seen him box but he must be a tad better than his record suggests.
Re: Currently most active boxer?
Seen him fight a couple times, a tidy boxer who makes prospects work for their victories.tigermoth87 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 06:45A few decent scalps on there over guys with credible records (7-0-2, 23-4-2, 19-4-2 etc).Mimmy wrote: ↑22 Jan 2018, 13:53 Who active has the most fights?

I always get the feeling that if he had the right kind of promotional backing early on in his career he could have been British champion.
