RIP Chartchai Chionoi
RIP Chartchai Chionoi
If anyone didn't hear the news that former three-time World Flyweight Champion Chartchai Chionoi passed away at 75 on the evening of January 21st, 2018 by pneumonia after suffering Parkinson's Disease like Muhammad Ali. Can anybody give any thoughts on one of the great champions of Thailand if anyone watch his fights on YouTube and other sources you heard about him? RIP Champ (Little Marciano of Asia and Marciano of Oriental)

Re: RIP Chartchai Chionoi
Look at where he fought. Proper fighters back in those days. Thailand, Japan, Philippines, Mexico, Panama, Nicaragua, England & Switzerland.

Seen the 1st 2 of his 3 fights with Efren Torres, he was excellent in the 1st fight but Torres was the far better fighter in the rematch, took the title from McGowan I believe

Re: RIP Chartchai Chionoi
If you are talking about Chionoi took the flyweight title from McGowan yes he did and Chionoi lost his title for the first time to Efren Torres in their rematch. Man, Chionoi should have been a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame like his fellow countryman Khaosai Galaxy and there were others who deserve as much as Chionoi.handsofstone wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 17:33 Seen the 1st 2 of his 3 fights with Efren Torres, he was excellent in the 1st fight but Torres was the far better fighter in the rematch, took the title from McGowan I believe

R.I.P, champ! I saw his fights with Mexican Efren "Alacran" Torres. They were brutal. Especially, the first fight. He, Chionoi, should be in the hall of fame.

Was never able to find Chionoi's rubber match with Torres which is a sickener
Re: RIP Chartchai Chionoi
I wonder who would win in their prime between Chartchai Chionoi and his fellow countryman Pone Kingpetch. In my opinion, Chionoi would stop Kingpetch in 14 rounds and what is your opinion?
