Kevin failed a brain scan in the build up to a fight and never fought again. Still kicking about Methil/Leven in Fife, think he works in a factory now. I saw the thread "cult heroes" and thought, "I'll go on that and make the case for Danny Williams"
I just love the guy - won and lost small fortunes on his fights as you never knew which Danny was gonna show up.
My favourite fight was a £4.99 PPV on YouTube vs Airich - just one of the most thrilling fights in its own right, but with a monkey on Danny by KO it was like Alton Towers on speed.

I’m surprised Peter Buckley hasn’t had a mention yet
Re: Cult heroes....
I liked Del Bryan. He would take on anyone.

With possibly the worst referee in boxing history and Airich’s manager ringing the bell halfway through a round!skanksta wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 18:21I saw the thread "cult heroes" and thought, "I'll go on that and make the case for Danny Williams"

Didn't they try and job him in that fight and he won by KO or am I thinking of someone else?skanksta wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 18:21I saw the thread "cult heroes" and thought, "I'll go on that and make the case for Danny Williams"

Malik Scott is just the guy that fell down from a little bit of nothing to Deontay Wilder to me. That non-effort pretty much defines his Boxing existence to me.Boxing Writer wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 18:52Yep. That's why I lost ALL respect to Malik Scott. Ji Hoon Kim's fights were always a lot of fun
Teddy Reid was very entertaining too
Not World Championship caliber guys, more like ESPN FNF kinda guys, but I always enjoyed their fights.

Yes, and he also blatantly quit against Chisora. After getting hit by subpar punch (although I'm not sure if he was hit by that punch at all) he went down and decided to stay at the floor. When the referee stopped the fight Scott artistically protested the stoppagegilgamesh wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 18:53Malik Scott is just the guy that fell down from a little bit of nothing to Deontay Wilder to me. He went the distance with Ortiz in an absolute howler of a fight! I found myself wishing for a mild stroke during that contest! From what Ive been told, Anderson got sick of the game. He was treated very badly in Manchester and just went back on the tools. I seen him a few years ago on a site and he was a big guy for a lt welter. He must have killed to get down. Best spar ive seen was him and peely Mcneil, rapid and both could hit.
Against Muttley, Anderson was out on the way down and woke up when his head hit the canvas, was a left hook if I mind right?
Re: Cult heroes....
I can't mind properly mate. I can remember the stoppage though and the ensuing riot afterwards lol. He was well behind as well at the time of the KO. I might actually try and find that on YouTube and watch it tonight!Tomasino wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 19:11Stuarty30 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 18:04Always wondered what happened to him. Heaviest knock down I ever saw in the flesh without the dude being absolutely sparko, I mean, I never saw anyone take a shot like that without they were sparko. Went down like he'd been shot in the head, head banged on the canvas too I think. Muttley landed probably four or five more hooks big enough to knock out or stop a lot of welters, I could heart the sickening thumps fucken ten rows or more back. That fight must have took years off Andersons career, insane chin and conditioning and heart to come though it.Tomasino wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 19:11Stuarty30 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 18:04Always wondered what happened to him. Re: Cult heroes....
He was. I thought initially that he'd spank Kevin McIntyre but he was completely schooled twice! I even thought Anderson would win the rematch and the first was a one off but he was schooled again. McIntyre was a classy southpaw though and could cause problems for most domestically when he was on his game (Kell Brook aside lol)Tomasino wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 19:16Stuarty30 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 19:14I can't mind properly mate. Wow, that must have been an awesome fight to watch man. He was really well thought of up here, he had a lot of skill as well, he was pushed towards the pressure fighting style because of his short arms but he could be slick on his feet and his hands were like a blurr in the amatuers.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 19:17Heaviest knock down I ever saw in the flesh without the dude being absolutely sparko. I think Ando was fucked up after the wars. He just couldnt get past Kevs jab...I honestly thought MacIntyre would give Brook some bother!Stuarty30 wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 19:19He was. Re: Cult heroes....
Yeah the atmosphere was something else.
Funny you mention him being a better boxer than he ended up seeming, he was much too irresponsible defensively still but the way he boxed his way back in against Muttley showed a fair bit of intelligence. He obviously cottoned that Muttley couldn't work hard for 3 minutes and did a decent job of keeping him active through the round without taking too many risks, just getting caught through inattentiveness sometimes. I'll have to watch it again, it's been a while.

Re: Cult heroes....
Kevin had an excellent jab. He was better in sparring than he showed in his pro career although he obviously had a cracking career. I fancied Brook to stop Kevin but not in the manner he did. I actually watched the first Brook v Jones fight when he really struggled with Kev in Paisley. We were at my mates engagement party and we ended up leaving the function and going to bar downstairs to watch fightTomasino wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 19:22I think Ando was fucked up after the wars.
