PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
And by the way..... where are the standings?
Not the overall standings for the past 100 fights but this seasons standing after the first event?

Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
Try telling that to the people who complain because I don't change the decision when a winner tests positive for doping and it is changed to a no contest, weeks later.
I can't win either way.
No combat took place in round 8, BoxRec has round 7.. I stuck with round 7. The only way you can argue round 8 is because of a technicality. The corner -clearly- called for the fight to end before the round started.
Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
If round 7, consists of a 3 minutes stanza then the 3 minute stanza was completed in full - so how on earth can it be deemed a 7th round stoppage?JCS wrote: ↑23 Jan 2018, 15:21Try telling that to the people who complain because I don't change the decision when a winner tests positive for doping and it is changed to a no contest, weeks later.

Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
Both of Peterson's eyes were swelling shut by the seventh round, and as the bell sounded to start the eighth, his trainer Barry Hunter called for it to be stopped by referee Harvey Dock.
^^
This is from boxrec own wiki on the fight. And if fighters get done for drugs and the bout gets changed to a Non contest then you should do the same - void the fight.
That's how it's recorded is the history books after all.

Because the 8th round never started?Kilsby wrote:

If a series of movies ended after two, would you say there was a trilogy?
If you bet on the loser, but the fight was later changed to a "no contest".. would you expect the bookmaker to give you your money back?

Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
If a series of movies ended after 2 I would not call it a trilogy. (obviously)
But if a fight completes a stanza if can't possibly be called a victory in that stanza (as it has been completed in full) it has to be the following round.
Unless you count the minute on the stool as still a part of round 7? So we have 'unofficial' 4 minute rounds now?
I know it's a hard decision but & I appreciate the work you are doing but if a round has been completed you can't deem it a TKO or KO in that round - it really should be that simple.

Stop crying about it fornicating hell, the work the fella puts in and you are on at him like this.
It's a free game for a bit of fun.

I'm not complaining, but the bell did sound for the start of round 8. Jim Gray also announced it at the start of round 8. It was literally 1 second into the round.

Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
It does seem strange, but I can also understand the logic behind it. I predicted the 8th, and if I had money on it I’d be pretty pissed. But as it’s a free competition, I’m a lot more philosophical
Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
And this is why there can never be real money involved..
Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
Lets just leave it....
But, I still say we are recording a wrong result. The 7th round was complete (in full) & the official ring announcer deemed it a 8th round TKO.
You 7th round backers have got away with murder

Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
In reality, it should have been an 8h round stoppage. I don't care either way because it's a free, fun game to play. However, it was officially announced as an 8th round TKO at the arena. The bell had rung for the 8th round when the plug was pulled.
Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
Official announcement is irrelevant. I -always- use the decision on the following Monday (as described in the rules).
When in doubt, I use BoxRec as the official decision. I don't really have time anymore to chase down who's right or who's wrong. I do know the corner called for the fight to be stopped before bell rung to start the 8th.
In any case, if I get around to coding it up, I may consider giving equal credit to those who picked KO 7 and KO 8.

"official announcement is irrelevant"
"the corner called for the fight to be stopped before bell rung to start the 8th"
Maybe...
But even if they did, it still wasn't stopped till 1 second into the 8th

Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
Just do whatever the betting companies consider the correct result. Why does there have to be a debate on this.

Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
FWIW, I just looked on the IBF website and it does state 8th round ko. Does seem a bit odd that Boxrec appears to be the only source giving a different result
Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
Because you won't admit you have made a mistake....
From the official ring announcer, to betting companies, to boxing websites all acknowledge it being an 8th round stoppage, even this websites wiki of the fight said it was stopped 1 second into round 8.
But you can't acknowledge this fact. Which is fine, it's your game. You can create whatever rules you wish. All your calls can be incorrect....
But your wrong on 99% of boxing websites and that's good enough substance for you.

Re: PTBF 2018 - RULES & STANDINGS THREAD
The Boxrec database says Rtd 7, so perhaps the PTBF rules should simply say that the result in the Boxrec database is final? No room for arguing then.Kilsby wrote: ↑25 Jan 2018, 03:33Because you won't admit you have made a mistake....

How is this a 7th round stoppage?
"You can't reason with idiots" I think is the quote
Now honestly this is getting boring
I acknowledge he is having it as 7th round stoppage but I'm just pointing out what actually happened at the event.
