How much would Too Talls sheer size and weight and agressiveness be a problem for Cooney ?
what if Archie Moore had joined his camp right after the Wallace fight, would Too Tall have become "50 %" better in 30 days?

The thing is any novice would be improved in 30 days with a decent trainer; that doesn’t mean they would be any good, just better than they were. I can’t play golf at all but I’m sure I’d been 200% better after 30 days of proper coaching from a golf pro, I would still be crap though.

Even then boxers improved technique often goes out the window when they are in a real fight, the going gets tough or they get hit. Jones found his level very early and quit before he got knocked out, his ego was too big for that to happen.

Cooney was never a terrific fighter, but he was a legit fighter who could punch a ton with his left.

In 1980 he had been a pro for 3 years and would stop both Lyle and Young.

Yes, both fighters were well faded, but they both would have handled 2 month pro Jones with little problem.

Cooney vs Jones in January 1980 would have been a farce. Novice Meneses had Jones out on his feet 2 months earlier.

Cooney would have starched Jones within a minute.

But Wolff was smart enough to have never considered an opponent like Cooney for Jones.

There's a reason Jones' opposition was very weak.

Lee Canalito had previously fought on CBS Sports Spectacualr on the prelimiary to
the Spinks Bros. fighting.
Lee Canalito was sort of inactive tho,he took 19 months out of his career
to star in Slyvester Stallone's movie PARADISE ALLEY in 1978,
and after his fight on the preliminary to Cooney vrs Dino Denis,he was in-active for 20 months
for some reason.
here he is almost exactly 7 years later ( at age 33 y)in November 1986( with only a ring record of 19 bouts)

Boxrec has a very different record for Ramsey than this telecast. Shows how you can have a great record 19(17)-0 like Canailto and not be that good. I'm saying that as someone who remembers Lee fondly coming up and I'm a fan and own the cult movie Paradise Alley that Canailio was in.

I think Too Tall would have been no match for Canalito. I think Too Tall would have had his hands full with Ramsey.
