i see a lot of ppl give full credit or blame to these two, from things as simple as fight posters and various marketing bits and arranging fighter media appearences, to matchmaking, areana operations, and so on

but it seems unlikely to me that they really are the main men in all these areas.more likely they have specialist employees , like loads of bussinesses

anyone know specifically what they or other top promoterrs actually do? anyone have info about how matchroom and warrens company really operate more generally?

I remember before Eubank V Close in Belfast in 1994 Don King serving beers in a Robinson's Bar in the city centre encouraging punters to buy tickets for the fight before moving onto to the next pub.

The main thing a promoter does, is find the money, and take the financial risk to put on shows.

That includes negotiating deals with TV platforms, either short or long term, hiring venues, making deals with ticket agencies, paying fighters, negotiating promotional contracts with fighters and their managers, and then promoting the event to ensure it either makes money, or increases the profile of the fighter or fighters who they are trying to build into a big ticket seller further down the line.

Whilst promoters get a lot of stick, it's worth remembering that they are ultimately the ones with whom the financial buck stops.
