Jarrell Miller Hopes to Battle Trevor Bryan on April 28
Jarrell Miller has designed his roadmap toward a shot at Anthony Joshua.
The talkative heavyweight contender from Brooklyn told Sky Sports in an interview Wednesday that he’ll fight fellow American Trevor Bryan on April 28 and hopes that’ll secure a fight against Joshua. Miller is expected to fight that night as part of HBO’s broadcast from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, but Bryan hasn’t been finalized as his opponent.
Miller (20-0-1, 18 KOs) and the untested Bryan (19-0, 13 KOs), of Schenectady, New York, are former sparring partners and know each other well.
“It’s looking like the end of April,” Miller said. “I’m gonna knock his block off.”
“It’s my turn now,” Miller said. “I’ve been more active than he has, fighting more top contenders than he has, so I don’t see why he should skip me.”
“Hell yeah, most definitely. Even though I know AJ is scared of me even more than a ton of bricks, you know what time it is. That would be an awesome opportunity, to break his face on American TV.”
“I think I deserve it now, to tell you the truth. Compared with these guys who AJ has fought, who Deontay [Wilder] has fought for their title shot, who Joseph Parker fought for their title shot.
“It’s crazy. I feel like I deserve it after this fight, after I put Trevor Bryan to sleep, so that’s how it is.”

I'm not even going to vote in such a silly poll. The last guy Bryan (19-0) fought had lost 11 in a row; the guy before that had lost 16 in a row. Talk about a padded record!
Re: Jarrell Miller Hopes to Battle Trevor Bryan on April 28
Would not be a particularly worthwhile fight, but at least people will stop talking about Trevor Bryan like he's a serious prospect after he gets steamrolled.
It's still okay, though. A lot of marginal contenders barely get a few wins before they go back downhill and we realize they barely did anything in the first place. At this rate, Jarrell shouldn't have that problem.

Trevor Bryan has a curious record. He's fought...
A 2-24 opponent with a boxrec rating of 0.
A 2-20 opponent with a boxrec rating of 0.
A 2-13 opponent with a boxrec rating of 0.
A 2-10 opponent with a boxrec rating of 0.
A 2-17-2 opponent with a boxrec rating of 0.
Where does he find these people? The bum factory?

This would never get sanctioned for a world title eliminator. A big step back for Miller compared to who he has recently been fighting.Lackeos wrote: ↑26 Jan 2018, 08:56Trevor Bryan has a curious record. He's fought...

Galen Brown took Bryan the distance. Good on, I know he posts on here, but but I can't see Bryan threatening Big Baby.

Bib Baby's stock has been going down since his poor showing against an out of shape and injured Wach. This so called "battle" with his former sparring partner and friend would be bad enough as just a keep busy workout, but he's billing it as a stepping stone to a championship fight!

This fight is like the guy who lives a block away from you who you recognize but whose first name you don't know asking if you want to help Gary (who you have no idea who he is) move this weekend.
Totally uninteresting, uninspired, and unimportant.

I attended Trevor Bryan's fight vs Derric Rossy outdoors at the D Hotel. Bryan scored a 1st round knockdown and won a unanimous decision 98-92. I liked his performance, but it definitely wasn't anything scintillating.

Trying to find something positive to say about Trevor Bryan ... at least he's stepping up after his constant diet of no hopers.
Unfortunately it's like a rookie rock-climber being told he should try something a little more challenging to take him out of his comfort zone and progress his skills, deciding" that's a gteat idea I'm going to tackle K2."
It won't end well for him - Gerald might have been a better option than Jarrell and even El Pollo Negro might be too big a jump.

Don't worry about Trevor. He won't get hurt. He'll find a nice soft spot on the floor to sit down.
Hey, I used to like the big baby! He's not turning into a David Haye clone is he?
Re: Jarrell Miller Hopes to Battle Trevor Bryan on April 28
To be fair if you go back a year or so, Bryan and Miller were two of Uncle Sam's best heavyweight prospects, roughly equal in terms of ranking and perceived ability / potential. Miller has emerged as a contender after a couple of wins over top 10 - 20 opposition while Bryan has done sweet bugger-all and is but a speck in Miller's rear-view-mirror. The big baby has left him behind like a used diaper.
Miller probably sees the unbeaten Bryan as a creditable name in his win-column and proof of his having far outgrown him (figuratively as well as literally). It could be a good fight but I'm not holding my breath. Eighteen months ago I'd have been delighted this match had been made, but timing is everything so they say..

Re: Jarrell Miller Hopes to Battle Trevor Bryan on April 28
Bryan did beat Derric Rossy by UD & scored a KD. I thought Don King would push him after that. Instead he got Molina 2 title shots a fight with Adamek in Poland & a WBA eliminator with Breazeale. I thought King would math Bryan & Molina against each other or Bryan against Stiverne but it never happened either. King use to match his HWs against each other but that isn't the case anymore. I wondered what happened to him.
Re: Jarrell Miller Hopes to Battle Trevor Bryan on April 28
Actually Molina or Stiverne would be perfect as a reasonable test for Bryan at this stage. Well known names who could, at a pinch, be described as 'fringe contenders' yet neither being anywhere near as daunting as Big-Baby Miller.
Bryan ought to better aware than most as to Miller's capabilities ... maybe it's a case of familiarity breeding contempt.

I seen Bryan fight on a little Club card in Pittsburgh. Heard he was a don king guy but keep king wasn’t
at that show. At least I don’t remember seeing him there. Bryan ain’t in great shape and this journeyman gave him rounds. I went home unimpressed on Brian. Big baby is fat but he look like he got power.

I can just hear Eddie Hearn saying "Who has Miller fought?"
Miller needs better challenges than this to be ready for Joshua.
Why is he even bothering?
