Gervonta Davis vs. Billy Dib - April 21, 2018
Gervonta Davis and Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe would only say Wednesday that they were close to securing Davis’ next opponent.
That opponent probably will be Billy Dib. An ESPN.com story posted Thursday stated that representatives for Davis and Dib are close to finalizing a deal for them to fight April 21 on the Adrien Broner-Omar Figueroa undercard at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
An IBF purse bid for a Davis-Dib elimination match was postponed Thursday from Monday until February 6 because the two sides reportedly are close to completing contracts for their fight.
Australia’s Dib, 32, most recently defeated Thailand’s Phum Kunmat (24-24-2, 16 KOs) in Five Dock, Australia. Dib (43-4, 24 KOs, 2 NC) is ranked No. 3 among the IBF’s 130-pound contenders, two spots ahead of Davis.

Billy is a nice enough chap, but what does it prove if Davis beats him?
Billy is a second tier fighter who has proven time and again he loses at he top level, and, he is a couple of years past prime.
I voted Dib KO, just because Davis and his team deserve this to back fire on them when they should be seeking better opportunities.

Should of added "Davis doesn't make weight, fight called off" as a choice on the poll.

This is a more inexcusable mismatch than Danny Garcia vs Brandon Rios. That last one must've really given Gervonta a scare.

If Lomachenko wanna get fight with Davis, he should be in attendance and get to the ring after the fight to make some scene.

Is Dib still around?
I thought (hoped) we saw the last of him in the title hunt when Miura ran over him a few years back.
Somehow Dib is rated ahead of Davis by the IBF. That's quite a stretch but after seeing the IBF welter ratings, I figure anything's possible.
I've disliked Dib since his fight with Steven Luevano about 10 years ago. It was on the undercard of Hopkins-Pavlik.
That had to be the dullest fight I've ever witnessed. It was almost like a match between 2 Hector Camacho's.
Absolutely nothing happened for 12 rounds. A lot of movement. No punches.
Somehow the judges picked a winner and gave it to Luevano.
Dib came a long way that night to do absolutely nothing.
Hopefully Davis runs over him Miura style and sends him into retirement.
