In which city in the US is it a big accomplishment to win the golden gloves at?

In New York City. The Daily News Golden Gloves, including the novice division, is a three-month tournament. Starts in January. Whew!

The New York Golden Gloves are the biggest, followed by the annual Chicago Golden Gloves. Both have a long history. In fact, you can date the beginning of the amateur golden gloves from the creation of these two, as well as the rivalry it spawned.

Of course NYC and Chicago have the biggest Golden Gloves tournaments, but I think Ohio has the cream of the crop as far as amateur talent goes... and this is nothing new, look at how many fighters from Ohio have made the olympic teams in the past few olympics and how many are taking home national titles. Ohio just has too many big-little cities to produce a huge GG tournament (Cleveland, Toledo, Cincy, Columbus, Youngstown all have their own, if I remember right).
