upsets coming?

Post by rhino222 »

could....

Ortiz beat wilder

Eubank stop Groves?

Browne beat Whyte?

Parker stop Joshua?

I know the possibility all 4 of them coming in is remote but certainly 2 of the 4 could happen. But which 2?

Ortiz to beat Wilder is highly possible. I'm picking Wilder in that fight, but an Ortiz victory certainly wouldn't be shocking to me. (Ortiz and Wilder actually getting in the ring and fighting is almost more of an upset than anything that could happen once the fight starts)

Eubank beating Groves wouldn't be an upset at all to me, in fact I downright expect it.

Browne to beat Whyte wouldn't be much of an upset to me either. I think these guys are on about the same level, but I think Whyte probably wins as he's got a little bit better developed skill set while Browne is just more of a crude brawler.

Parker to beat Joshua? Virtually no chance on this one. Parker won't win a round, and it wouldn't surprise if he didn't even survive more than a few frankly. He's well below this level from what I've seen.

Eubank is a slight favourite in the Groves fight. I think it would be seen as slightly more of an upset if Groves won.

I think Ortiz is pretty overrated but plenty have him a very live fighter against Wilder. Parker isn't in Joshua's league and will get destroyed. Him winning would be a monumental upset.

Yeah. The rest would only really be mild upsets at best.

Eubank beating Groves is what i expect,Ortiz may have left it too late but wouldn't be a shock if he won,Browne and Whyte are both on a similar level so that could go either way,Joshua would be the only big surprise for me.

In that order. Would eubank groves be an upset? I favour Saint George but its a really tough fight.

I think Whyte beats Browne. He was getting out boxed by a fat past it Chagaev and was blowing out his hole til he found the stoppage. Taking nothing away from him. Takes balls to go to bloody Chechnya and come out with a win! Wouldn't have been me! Feck that!

AJ will stop Parker on his feet in a good battle.

I think Eubank will outwork Groves and stop him late but he'll probably have his chin tested a good few times. Groves is a good counter puncher and Eubank is guilty of negating his defence at times. Has all the ingredients of a top battle.

Wilder stops Ortiz I reckon. Ortiz has looked slow and ponderous recently. Maybe he was just uninterested but I've not been at all impressed by him. He looks about 50 as well!

Fukk sake Coco! Usyk didn't stop Breidis so you'd have lost your fiver before you spoke to the bookie (or your bet would've been void lol). Can't see Parker stopping AJ or Ortiz doing Wilder either?

I consider the first three bouts fairly even.

And I think Parker will push Joshua a fair bit

i think all these fights are close.
jr is favourite to beat gg but if jr wins i think it will be a stoppage
i cant see ortiz winning, wilder has too much to lose
think browne v whyte is 50/50
i think parker will be a big test for aj, and i think this will be a close fight

so for me ill go eubank stops groves
and browne win

— Wilder should be too rangy and Ortiz too plodding, but all it takes is a careless few seconds from Wilder to open the door. I'd be tempted to call this the most likely upset, but I can't shift the image of Ortiz not having enough positivity and hunger to walk a tentative Wilder down. But fair enough — it takes a brave man to risk walking onto those shots.

— I make Groves the favourite against Eubank. Eubank's been flattered at 168 so far, and Groves' chin isn't as bad as some make out. He was only counting his sheep that one time, and Froch has long arms and good power, neither of which apply to Eubank. Further, Froch had a history of dramatic one-punch turnarounds. Eubank can win, certainly, but I think it's far more likely to be over 12 rounds in a battle of attrition if he does. I don't think Eubank can take Groves' power, but he's the clear favourite if he can.

— Browne's more vulnerable to his age and stamina than most of his opponents, so I think that's Whyte's to lose. If Whyte stays relatively busy and doesn't get caught, I think he'll have enough output to nick a few rounds towards his win.

— I'd give Parker every chance if he had more power. I wouldn't be surprised if he could outlift most heavies on the weights, but he doesn't have the kind of snap you need to beat Joshua to the punch. If they start trading it'll be at roughly the same speed, and that's no good to the shorter-armed, less dangerous Parker. His main chance is to take a serious punch that leaves Joshua well out of position to return his own.

If I had to put money on one of these, I'd flip a coin for Eubank and Ortiz. I'm leaning towards Ortiz on paper, but I've seen lots of guys like him let down by their own psychology during their first difficult fight. Eubank might get bashed, but he won't be cowed.

I meant that number 1 is the least biggest upset, 4 being the biggest
