Murat Gassiev v Yunier Dorticos

Post by Stuarty »

Next week! After tonight I'm even more excited for this man! Two murderous punchers! This fight has 'war' written all over it! I genuinely can't even pick a winner! I like both guys so I'll sit back and just enjoy lol. Who do you like? And who do you think takes it? I can't wait man!

Dorticos has been my provisional number-one since he beat Kalenga, but as a Cuban, you never know who's turning up. Similar to travellers, most of them burn out in their twenties having being pushed so hard as youths.

I see trouble ahead for Dorticos if he doesn't hurt his opponents early, but I hope I'm wrong and he does have top fitness. I think he's the best cruiser if he can fight at a good pace for 12, but that remains to be seen and I have my doubts.

I've no such worries for Gassiev, who's clearly an all-rounder.

The judges had Kalenga well ahead in their fight! Was a cracking fight but I had Dorticos ahead by a few at the time of the stoppage!

dorticos was imo maybe slightly ahead vs kalenga, but he went through hell and seemed very uncomfortable and wilting and like he could lose at times. the fight looked very much up for grabs going into the last round.

i wouldnt say thats a 'hes #1 performance' when kalengas more of s gatekeeper. also i think hes flattered by koing the highly crude and open and chinny russian kudryashov

dorts also been down vs eric fields so some chin questions too. on the positive side hes clearly a good punchet, is big, and has a nice mixture of punches. seems like he may be more versstile than gassiev, but imo prob not as durable. also his punch teqniques a bit wide and sloppy.

Hope to see a stoppage win. Who has the better chin? Has it been tested yet?

Gassiev has deadly body shots too

I taking Gassiev for the tournament. He’s also the fight I think could do best at heavyweight after this. He is up against it with Dorticos who is a deadly hitter. This is the best thing to happen in boxing in a long time.

btw though id deffo gve the wnner of this a good (though not necessarly 50+ percent) chance vs usy unless they both seem bad. too many ppl act as if usy just cant lose at cw but even he can. only thngs though is that a guy such as gassev hasnt shown any sgns that he can up the pace. its always plod wait then explode and that could lead to him being outworked.

I really have no idea how I see this going, could be quick, could be long. could be Gassiev, could be Dorticos, both guys coming in off 2 sickening stoppages

Stab in the dark i'll go with Gassiev to KO Dorticos in about 4, he's the more textbook boxer i'd say, Dorticos is skilful but I wonder if he has the mindset to outbox Gassiev over 12

I'll be at work. Just as I was for the other fight. Going to watch them back to back next week. Should be a cracker.

gassiev for all his plodding that might be thought of as 'crude' has textbook punch technique (dorts a bit wide and sloppy at times) and has shown the better chin. they both have good power.

i think gas outlasts dort in a tough one.

i may be biased against dort because i felt he had a very tough fight with gatekeeper kalenga where he looked wilting, but others have watched it and didnt think he looked as vulnerable. but then also getting dropped by fields (plus kod as a grown man in the amateurs)has me wondering if hell come out worse if it goes to attrition.

I'm sure he will come out worst when it comes to attrition. his best bet is hurting gassiev early, IMO if this goes beyond 6 there's only one winner.

Believe it or not I am actually going to this one .... at the airport now ... feel really blessed as I was in Latvia for Briedis/Usyk ... that was some atmosphere & fight.

With regards to Gassiev/Dorticos I havnt got a clue who wins ... is the fight down to the first who connects first?

The WBSS have excelled in bringing this Cruiserweight tournament together.

It will be a great final

I’m going Gassiev to take him late and then stop him.

Great fight and tournament.

More shocking behaviour from WBA. They should of stripped him when he lost to Gassiev.
Not now, because the WBSS is the flavour of the month and they want to fatten their pockets.
