WBA should strip Lebedev of the title and put it on the line in the Super Series final

Post by DrDuke »

Lebedev has somehow earned the right not to put the WBA title on the line in the Gassiev fight. And initially both Lebedev's titles were on the line, but then something had happened. So, as we know, Lebedev has lost, but he has saved WBA. And then he didn't sign to take part in the Super Series, which was considered a clash of the division's bests. And now the winner of the tournament is going to take only the Regular WBA belt, not the actual one. This is a bit disappointing and unfair, in my opinion. Only imagine, how the Super Series winner could have been an undisputed champion. What are your thoughts?

Yes, Gassiev is the real WBA champion, Dorticos is basically his mandatory challenger.

Boxing fans know the winner of the WBSS Cruiser is the #1 in the world, no question.
That is what makes it so special. At the end if the last fight, the guy who gets his arm raised is 'the man'
Screw the belts, this competition will produce the real Champ.

WBA is the most corrupt sanctioning body well ahead of WBC and WBO. They got their cut for leaving Lebedev the belt, and they are not stripping him.

They totally failed, and hard, with the SMW tournament. Not getting a Dirrell, Benavidez, or Gilberto Ramirez killed off any chance to name a true #1.

Tottaly failed with the SMW?
That's a little harsh, isn't it?
In their first attempt at a duel weight class super series, they got all the good Cruisers, and 60% of the top SMW's. To me that is a massive achievement, that they may not even equal in years to come. And look at the SMW semi and final- Groves-Eubank (massive fight) and Smith faces the winner of that! Those two fight will be as good if not better than anything else happening at SMW this year.
