how bad would someone have to be before theyd be a poor comeback opponent? lo grecos done pretty much nothing and is boxrec #99. hes won 1 fight since 2015 and that was an md over a journeyman

khans been off but only for like a year and a half

He's the ideal comeback opponent. Why take any risk whatsoever when there's only one fight him, Brook and Eddeh want.

ya duh, in terms of risk hes the right type. as i said they obviously arent taking any chances and he wont pose the risk. just like from a promoters stance its ideal for flawed fighters to be matched with trash to build a record rather than be fast exposed.

but he is bad if were talking actually being an okay fighter and khan not going for a patsy. its not like khan hasnt put on gloves for years.this guy couldnt even beat joe elegele and barely makes the top 100

because i tend to consider not only what #teamKhan and eddeh would want and whats smart from there perspective of protecting an investment, but also what i want as a fan. i dont like when guys are chosen who are way out of their league. and as this is a forum im allowed to say that

thinking as a fan is certainly getting less common these days though.

Khan's been out nearly 23 months by time the fight takes place. Last time he got KO'd by Garcia, he returned 6 months later and fought Molina, only difference is Molina was undefeated. This time, he hasn't fought in nearly 2 years. He needs to test his hand also. It's not the best fight that could have been made, Lo Greco said he wasn't happy with the purse so god knows what Eddeh is offering opponents. Fight is on Sky Sports, so i'm just looking forward to seeing Khan after nearly 2 years, and that it also as a boxing fan.

We dont' know what goes on behind the media etc. They may have tried to get a better opponent.

okay so what about my question. just curious. how bad would the opponent have to be before youd consider them poor for a comeback opponent? wheres the line.

although if you just want to see khan maybe anyone woukd do, even the local binman?

but for me lo greco is good to make the fight very easy and protect khan but is pretty bleh from other perspectives. lets get him done with then onto better things

IT was never gonna be anyone half way decent. Lo Greco is there to make Amir look good and that's what will more than likely happen. It doesn't really bother me too much that the opponent is dog shít as come fight night Amir would've been out the ring nearly two years. As long as he's stepped up in his next fight but tbh I wouldn't hold my breath. Hearn wants to match him with Brook so he'll be matched very carefully next as well you'd imagine.

Frampton v Donaire that night anyway so who's gives a fukk! Won't be scanning through this card til the following day anyway!

weelegs wrote: 10 Jan 2018, 08:44 I've seen people on this forum claim Khan is the biggest name in UK boxing second only to AJ. Can someone explain why and how??

From what I see the guy is a complete idiot, been down on the canvas in more positions than a German porn star and spent the last 5 years wanking (sometimes publicly) over a potential fight with FMJ.

Why does this guy get the time of day that he does? Baffles me
I would say its between Khan and Haye for the #2 most well known fighter. Khan was big big business back in the day and his run as a world champion has been underated.

That's not to say he is the #2 British boxer in the world, but if you ask 100 people to recogise a picture of all the British boxers - Khan would be the second most recognised face (or 3rd behind Haye).
Aj has overtaken them both now.

Boxing is in a very unexciting place at the minute.

Khan's signing has not stirred any real interest from anyone. The Brook fight at Wembley is a distant memory and dead as far as most fan's are concerned.

At best it's an 02 fight or a chief support fight for Joshua vs Wilder (at Wembley)

Meh, I'm perfectly happy with this as a comeback fight. Will be a good measuring stick being able to compare how Khan performs against him with his contests versus Porter and Spence

ya i mean porter 100-88'd phil and spence destroyed him early, so it will be totally interesting to see if phil can win even one round against khan. also interesting to see if khan is still up to joe elgeles level, which we already know is above phils :box:

It’s Normal Sky Sports - they’ll keep the PPV for 2 x Joshua and Brook/Khan if it gets made for 2nd half of season.
