Stop him?
Golovkin will have to do a whole lot more than jab jab jab to stop Canelo.
The Mexican is clearly on a mission to prove to that he's not only boxing's box office king but also its P4P king.
What better day for a Mexican warrior to erase all doubts than on Cinco de Mayo?
Viva Mexico!
Re: ggg vs canelo II is on
As Canelo is knocked down for the 5th time in his career (having been knocked down 4 times in previous rounds), the seriousness of his predicament becomes apparent. Can he survive and make it to rd 12 and then 3 more minutes to pull of a unanimous victory where he has been outboxed, out slugged and out ring generaled by an opponent his own size and skill. As he wobbles courageously to his feet, Kenny Bayliss motions to him with wide, unblinking eyes and whispers. “Do you need more time sir? Are you ok sir? Spit your mouthguard out!” he pleads. Canelo spits out his mouthguard which fly’s at Bayliss, covering him in spittle and methamphetamine for which Canelo has been dosing between rounds. Bayliss calls time and wipes up the spit, harvesting it for sale on ebay. After several minutes of attempting to find a second mouthguard the ring bell sounds. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication, the round clock was still running and rd 11 is now over.
Canelo, knowing full well victory is at hand fronts centre ring to begin round 12, but something is wrong. It’s the eyes of Golovkin. They show no fear. Canelo thinks back to his proudest moment. His devastating KO of Amir Khan. He knew he was truly great that day. No one had ever Koed Khan like that. Not even Breidis Prescot a lightweight who Koed Khan in the first round. Canelos Ko was much better, much cleaner. That means something, it means Canelo is better. He remembers the eyes of all his opponents, they all knew he was better, they all knew they would lose. Except for Floyd. But that made sense. Floyd was the A side, Golovkin is not the A side. He cannot possibly try and beat me! Golovkins lack of respect for boxing politics maddens him. He casts aside any fear and doubt, he bites down on his gum shield. He readies himself for the opening bell. This will be a war to the end! Before the first punch lands, Oscar De la Hoya lifts Canelo out of the ring with a parachute fan contraption. They hover over the ring for 3 minutes until the final bell sounds. The fights over. Canelo wins. Fight stats, Golovkin lands 1,000 punches with 100% accuracy with 5 KD’s. Canelo lands and throws 3 punches. It’s a great day for the sport. Canelo, boxings biggest attraction and number 1 pound for pound fighter in the universe.

Total fantasy excuses.
The old song that the world is against Golovkin. It's getting predictable. It's always been boring.
Alvarez wins on Cinco de Mayo because he's simply the more multi-dimensional, and adaptable fighter.
He doesn't need anyone's help to send Golovkin back to the middleweight scrap heap. He can do it in his own.
He was the better man Sept. 16. He'll remain the better man May 5.
If it makes you feel better to insist that Golovkin can't win because of imaginary judging corruption, then go ahead and chant that lame mantra over and over.
Alvarez is better. Some day you'll finally deal with it.

Good fight! I just hope it's not going to be in crooked Las Vegas again.

It’s kind of weird how an awful lot of people aggressively lambasted GBP (Oscar De La Hoya and Eric Gomez) for preferring to initiate contract negotiations for this bout at the beginning of January, accusing them of “ducking”, but now the fight has been made… the very same set of critics suddenly go silent!
Re: ggg vs canelo II is on
If Canelo could fight more than one minute of each round without getting gassed, he could actually win legitimately. He has proven he can't. He has also proven he will get the score in his favor from at least one judge if he finishes the fight. He isn't skilled enough to potshot his way to victory, imo.SenorPipino wrote: ↑30 Jan 2018, 01:57 Total fantasy excuses.

If he wins, I hope it is by KO. That goes both ways, for GGG also.

Big fights always take a long time to negotiate in this era.
Everyone's looking out for themselves and the best deal.
A lot of money and even careers are at stake.
I see nothing nefarious in drawn out negotiations.
Fighters always say they want a certain opponent "right away." But that's how they talk.
It's their promoters and managers who have more sense and don't let them climb into the ring until the "I's" are dotted and the "T's" are crossed on the contracts.
Boxing can be big business. You don't jump into things willy nilly.
Re: ggg vs canelo II is on
GGG like the first fight will be far too strong across 12 rounds.
Canelo needing a KO to win this but as I've said above, GGG who won the first fight by a mile will have to get the nod this time if it goes the way I think it will with GGG bullying him and hunting him down.

Plus, GGG is made of steel. Canelo hit him with his best shots and GGG just walked forward.Manc_Red wrote: ↑30 Jan 2018, 16:38 GGG like the first fight will be far too strong across 12 rounds.

Re: ggg vs canelo II is on
I'm going for another draw.
Golovkin isn't knocking out Alvarez & he isn't going to get a decision against Canelo either, even moreso at this stage in his career, when he looks to have slipped a bit.

He hasn't slipped.
It's simply that Golovkin has finally been forced to face opponents who actually know how to fight instead of challenging the Mothers of Mercy as he did in his first 35 fights.
It's funny how stepping up the competition can suddenly make you look less than invincible.

I'm still inclined to think GGG.....however it did seem to me that Canelo was slowly figuring his man out......and if he picks up where he left off, GGG could well be in trouble. Add that to GGG slowly moving away from his prime, and you've got enough doubt to fill the room.
I'm not betting this time.

Good call. I wouldn't bet on this one either.BoxBuzz wrote: ↑31 Jan 2018, 14:16 I'm still inclined to think GGG.....however it did seem to me that Canelo was slowly figuring his man out......and if he picks up where he left off, GGG could well be in trouble.
